Ah! My dear, dear, Frodo!

You want to hear him belt out the last part of Stairway To Heaven. You wouldn't scoff, then!

Interesting reading your comments about your band mate. I used to play in a band back in the day. An obscure punk band, nobody famous. Played a few gigs and had a laugh though.

Nice work, fella!

I've been gigging for several years. Had the chance to go pro in my younger years, but shied away from it. A small part of me regrets it, but I think I made the right choice. Most of the musicians I know - some of them well known in their day - didn't do as well with their music-making/playing as I have done in my career and business dealings.

I play for fun. The little bit of cash I make is a bonus, and does little more than cover expenses.

We're one of the best bands in on our circuit, which is something that all the guys are proud of. I'm the sole guitarist in our band. The stuff we play is fairly technical, and we're best known for playing the music of one particular band (which I won't mention).

I'm looking forward to meeting up with the lads, tonight.

Nice one. We were never that good, but then punk isn't really meant to be is it? We had some great times and got a little bit of cash for our efforts. Some of the gigs were absolutely mad as well. <laugh>

Being a pro musician isn't always all it's cracked up to be. Yes there are 'advantages' which I accepted gleefully with both hands ( as it were).

But, a lot of what I did was session work. That and numerous stand- ins. Some with extremely well known musicians, some not so much.

The thing is, it's a job. And in many ways it's like any other job. I can remember standing here on more than one occasion thinking 'why am I standing here playing this ****?' Answer, because that was what I was getting paid to do.

Were you in Oasis?

Watching the Ryder Cup. Not much of a golf fan but I love this particular competition. Europe fighting back after a horror start.

In work hanging due to alcohol and cocaine, good times.
