    A Jonah?

Is that another word for jinx?

I can't actually think of a single bad game he's had...though I'm sure someone can remind me!

Nah not gonna happen we're on a roll! <diva>

I do think this game will be very tough though. Just hope people aren't thinking that they're the 4th seed so should be an easy win.

Be interesting to see how much Claude rotates for this one, considering the travelling distances!

See no reason to not bring back the hobbit midfield for this one.
It's just a question of who plays alongside Yoshi and who is up with Long.

I'd rotate Austin out for this one. I'm leery of pushing him too hard, and starting him here and on the weekend would mean five starts (plus a 36 minute sub appearance) in seventeen days. Gotta keep him upright. .

I don't think its ever a good idea for us to park the bus. We are hot n cold at the best of times. There'd be zero guarantees of a stuffing in the return leg. I'd back Long to get a brace in this because I want him to get one. I think they will struggle to cope with his hard and fast approach. Thinking positively, he can't miss every opportunity for a whole season.

Puel will probably rotate the team a lot for this match. We might expect Yoshida, Targett and Cuco in the first lineup, as well as Clasie, possibly JWP. I would give Romeu a rest because for me he's one of two players we really have to wrap in cotton wool, the other one being Tadić.

    So

    Forster(McCarthy?): Cuco-Yoshida-Van Dijk-Targett; Reed-Clasie-Davis: Long-Redmond-Tadić

Now I've remembered there's an international break after this match, so there's no need to rotate at all. :D Still, some players will probably be given game time

Just to wildly extend the metaphor, we should use Treebeard and a couple of fellow Ents in defence, and use Legolas on the wing. With Aragon marshalling the midfield, we've got a (Middle)Earth beating team. Mind you, Mordor away could be tricky.:emoticon-0100-smile

With two or three games every week, I worry that sfcfan could become burnt out before Christmas. We probably need some form of squad rotation here, with other match thread creators in full training, so that sfcfan stays fresh. Maybe thereisonlyoneno7 could be used after 20 clean sheets, if only to allow the Not606 crowd the opportunity to give sfcfan a standing ovation as he heads towards the subs bench, to prepare the next (always winning) thread.:1980_boogie_down::1980_boogie_down:

I think we need to take control of this group and we have a good chance of doing that. Team i'd pick.

Forster; Martina, Yosh, VVD, Targett; Romeu; Clasie, JWP, Hesketh; Long, Redmond

I'd be going hard out for the win on this.

    Forster,
    Martina, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand
    Romeu
    Holberg, JWP, Tadic
    Long, Redmond

Stretch them with some pace and a JWP follow-up goal because that how it always works.

I'd be really tempted to play Hesketh at the top of the diamond in this one.

    Forster
    Martina Yoshida VVD Targett
    Romeu
    JWP Clasie
    Hesketh
    Long Redmond

Austin, Davis and Tadic to come on if required. Hopefully get ahead and bring Reed on to give Romeu a rest.

Think I'd rather him start at St Mary's for his first Euro start.
