Also forgot how much fun it is reading through the entire game on here after I know the result <laugh>

A lot of people disappointed with Cedric but BBC live text said he was brilliant... or was it a 1st/2nd half thing?

According to stat sites he was our second best player last season, now a European champion, but many (on here especially) wouldn't have him in our team.

He was particularly poor against Watford, but I thought he was great today. Other than some unnecessary lunging challenges in the box early doors, he was part of a solid defensive display

Must be a coincidence how often teams have a bad day when they are playing us.

Vin

I think that we will see us play like this away from home a lot this season. We cannot afford to expend the energy of a Klopp or Pochettino pressing game when we have so many games, therefore we make ourselves tough to break down and then counter while trying to tire the opposition by retaining possession. Once we are in the lead and space opens up we can flourish and look dangerous with pace on the counter.

Right, so this is my experience of the ground...

- Pleasant enough walk to the stadium, enough time to eat a sausage roll, bag of crisps and drink a bottle of water (no way I was paying stadium prices...)
- Security shambles - I had an OTT body search that went for way longer than it needed to, then they didn't know if I'd been searched or not and it led to the stewards just asking people 'have we searched you yet?' - they seemed surprised that everyone was just answering 'yep' and wandering in
- My ticket didn't work - had to go and get a reprint, only got inside 25 minutes before KO after arriving just before 3.
- Had to wait ages because they didn't know whether to search me again or not, eventually got through without a search by just circumventing the search
- Took my seat, miles from the pitch with a huge gap between the two tiers behinds the goal
- PA system doesn't work - if you think SMS is bad... try this place (or don't...)
- No real home atmosphere except the odd roar on a corner or when the teams came out etc, good support from Saints fans but hard to coordinate songs
- Fans flooded out quickly
- Left the stadium just after 18:00 and was home at 19:15 (and I live a 30/40 min tube journey away) so that's not bad at all
The PA echo's it's like:

"Num.. num...number...number... 9...9"

Umm....fabulous win and all that, and I get that it's fun to read a thread knowing the result, but let's not get carried away - we were pretty poor for the majority of the first half. Then we upped a few gears second half (good team talk from Puel, and the goal of course helped as it made WH open up a bit).

Not taking anything away from the boys here, but just not pretending we were somehow brilliant for the whole game either (and I'm a happy clapper!)

Sorry if that sounds negative, it's not meant to, just it really was a game of two halves and there were many better performances second half than first - notably Cedric and Pierre.

Not a single Saint in Garth Crooks Team of who scored at the weekend. Are Saints a myth of the space time continuum that have to be seen to be believed in?

Joke of a team. Comprised entirely of 'top 6' players. Charlie Austin won that match single-handedly for us with 2 superb touches, what more must he do to get into Crooks' team?! Good thing he probably couldn't care less.

I totally agree. Earlier I commented that we have a famtastic system for leading, but it's a bit dicey when things are level. However, after we took the lead we were really excellent.

We're always so much better in the second half though, have been for a few seasons now. Its got to the point where I'm not even worried if it's 0-0 at HT because I know we'll come out and perform in the second half!

What a superb performance by the Saints ! 2nd half we were as good as ! Defence, midfield and in attack, we were so good + great support as always. COYR !!
