And another little factoid mentioned during today's commentary (so if it's wrong take it up with Sky). The last time WHU failed to score was against us in February.

Vin

And according to the BBC, the last time West Ham failed to have a shot on target in the first half was against us in December.

Also forgot how much fun it is reading through the entire game on here after I know the result <laugh>

A lot of people disappointed with Cedric but BBC live text said he was brilliant... or was it a 1st/2nd half thing?

One piece of poor decision making, and (I think) one over hit cross. Both in the first half. But that was it really. He's a much better offensive threat for us when he's able to burst into the box, as opposed to out on the touchline to put a cross in.

We're up 2-0. We won't lose this game. It's not a tactical sub, it's to get the youth some playing time.
Since August 2014 when he made his premier league debut, Charlie Austin has scored 21 goals, the same amount as Rooney in that time, having played 20 games fewer than Rooney.

Charlie fncking Austin - there is an international coming up.
in fairness Mr junior Redknapp did say he thought he could be close if he keeps scoring

Quality! Love seeing things like that, remember Gerrard being in the away end at Villa park a couple of years back.

Question for you dtlw (and others who went), what did you make of the ground atmosphere etc.? Any trouble today?
Right, so this is my experience of the ground...

- Pleasant enough walk to the stadium, enough time to eat a sausage roll, bag of crisps and drink a bottle of water (no way I was paying stadium prices...)
- Security shambles - I had an OTT body search that went for way longer than it needed to, then they didn't know if I'd been searched or not and it led to the stewards just asking people 'have we searched you yet?' - they seemed surprised that everyone was just answering 'yep' and wandering in
- My ticket didn't work - had to go and get a reprint, only got inside 25 minutes before KO after arriving just before 3.
- Had to wait ages because they didn't know whether to search me again or not, eventually got through without a search by just circumventing the search
- Took my seat, miles from the pitch with a huge gap between the two tiers behinds the goal
- PA system doesn't work - if you think SMS is bad... try this place (or don't...)
- No real home atmosphere except the odd roar on a corner or when the teams came out etc, good support from Saints fans but hard to coordinate songs
- Fans flooded out quickly
- Left the stadium just after 18:00 and was home at 19:15 (and I live a 30/40 min tube journey away) so that's not bad at all

Interesting that with all the comments about Cedric not squaring for Austin (or Davis not squaring for Austin), no-one seemed to have an issue with Redmond shooting rather than squaring for Long (which for me, of the three, would have been the easiest tap-in of the lot).

The interesting bit for me about the Cedric chance to square it was that everyone has gone on about Austin, who was in front of the near post and with a player there to pressure (Which obviously doesn't make it not scoreable for Austin) when Hojbjerg had ghosted in around the penalty spot with about 10 yards of open space and a clear avenue for it to be pulled back. Either way, it doesn't matter which it was because I think Cedric just never got his head up.

Also coming on and reading through the thread from early in the game is pretty amusing, few people are veeeery quick to heap blame on some players whilst others can do no wrong! Certainly an incredibly stale start to the game for both teams, but once again would think we had been horrendous from reading through the thread.

Yep, I said to my lad... "Get it to Pete!!!"

Cheers for that <ok>

He was brilliant when we were in the ascendancy. Had a shot instead of squaring it to Austin at one point. Nearly gave away a penalty. Overall pretty good day at the office though.
