A nice early taster, Moon Racer if he's right should prove a very good hurdler, granted he can jump fluent. Ballyandy possibly more a longer term project I'd imagine. Great to see them out early.

I think the bookies have the market spot on with Moon Racer shades of odds on - was well fancied initially for the novice hurdle before his injuries and is a top top class horse , Ballyandy is defiantly more of a long term prospect and can see him even going over further can forgive his Aintree race as he had a bloody hard race at Cheltenham- not bet for me but is a great clash for this time of the year - may it continue!!!

No one giving Wakea a chance then? 7/1 looks a decent price for a horse that's already won over hurdles

Early start for so called festival bound horses. Always concerns me a bit (didn't the Aintree bumper winner from a couple of years back start at a poor meeting like this and ran like a drain?)

I think with Moon Racer stable is probably just trying to get a couple of early races in him to boost confidence and all that- the injury last year probably really scuppered thier plans, the good thing they didn't rush him last year put him back in some bumpers and now this year I can see him having a fairly busy campaign all being well but for a lightly raced horse that will be no problem, As for Ballyandy NTD isn't scared of sending out the big stars multiple times in the year e.g The New One and good on him we want to see the good horses race. As I said no real bet for me just sit and watch the race and hopefully (for my SN hurdle bet- see MoonRacer destroy then field) but will be putting 50p ew on one of the Elliot horses just so I can watch the race at work on my iPad <laugh>

Ballyandy is an embryonic chaser so anything he does over hurdles, as the old adage goes, will be a bonus. Moon Racer the likely winner today.

    4.15 Newmarket- Forever Popular - 11/2

The stable is bang on form , she has been struggling in a couple of grade 2'a recently but has won at this level beating a a good yard stick in twitch; Ryan seems pretty bullish in his betfair column about her and should be there, there abouts

I quite like the idea of festival horses coming out early when the ground is good then being put away and freshened up while the ground is horrendous before a nice early Feb spin as a prep run.
I think thats what ruined the New One - all those runs on bottomless ground where he was hanging and having to work hard to win despite being 1/5 on.

Cracking race but one I won't be betting in. Instead, I'm wasting my money on these at the same meeting...

    GLEANN NA NDOCHAIS 10/1
    COOL BARANCA 25/1
    LILYWHITE GESTURE 12/1

Spot on lads. Great to see the yards not afraid to run them. Cheltenham isn't until March and you've only a slim chance of ever winning a race there unless you are Mr.Mullins so get them up and running ta ****.

Another Frankel debut today with EMINENT in the 2pm at Newmarket. The right noises have been made about this colt for some time and if he were with a bigger yard he'd be a shorter price than his current 7/1.

This was a report on him from the RP about a month ago:

    Eminent (Martyn Meade)
They have long been getting excited by this relatively cheap purchase -150,000gns - down at Sefton Lodge stables on the Bury Road and their dreams are expected to be tested in the coming weeks. Although he is related to sprinters, Eminent has been showing some staying qualities in his work of late, including when going right off the end of the watered gallop. That experience should stand him in good stead when the Group 2 Royal Lodge entry finally hits the track with connections waiting for some ease in the ground.

Though the spotlight may be Eminent in the first there are some intriguing pedigrees on offer and 3 newcomers really stand out. First up is Azam, who is by Dansili out of a Giant's Causeway dam whose mum was the champion 2yo filly Playful Act (Sangster owned). Second up is Beach Break, who is by Dansili's brother Cacique out of a mare called Wemyss Bay (by Sadlers Wells), so this is the family of Oasis Dream and Kingman. Third is Solo Mission who is by Sea the Stars out of a Rahy mare called Lonely Ahead whose mum was that terrific filly Sayyedati.

To choose one you'd have to see them in the paddock but purely on pedigree I think I'd go for Solo Mission.

That puts my betting account in a slightly better position! A very taking debut and he looks like he'll shape up into a nicer 3yo as he looks to have plenty of growing to do.
