Have you fixed the odds regarding the first PL manager to get fired, waiting for another club to pull the trigger, and then sacking Hughes and his Taffia. Thus making a killing and covering the costs of getting rid.

Just a thought.

It does matter who we have in reality - so many teams decline because of the catalogue of errors in selecting bad manager after bad manager. I said when this raised its head that I wasn't a quick fire type, but something does fundamentally look and feel wrong about the whole thing. A change is needed (IMO) but the replacement is more important.

And our owners are among the muckiest. Making £B's out of the misery of poor sods addicted to gambling, god help 'em.

Sorry I dont agree that they are making money out of people adicted to gambling. I like a bet like many others but this doesnt mean im addicted, yes there are people that are addicted but 99% of people are in full control of their betting account. You could say that pubs are the same, they make bucket loads of money out of alcoholics but no-one ever says that pub chains etc are mucky and are making money out of people addicted to alcohol. At the end of the day its your own personal choice if you wish to drink or gamble. No-one is holding a gun to their heads. Ive got no problem with bookies at all.
 
On the occasions when I have chatted with men who like to wager, and there have been a number, not one has said to me that overall he is down ( out of pocket ).
Is this coincidence that I have only spoken with winners ? Ricc you suggest that 99% are in full control of what they are doing, would you bet on that ?
If they are in full control they would stop when they see that they are giving money away, but they don't/won't/can't.
You cannot argue against the fact that bookies are making billions, so where are they getting it from ?
I would say the same for the national lottery. Please don't tell me that charities benefit, I already know.

Pubs, brothels, opium dens and chess clubs are on a different level and should be dicussed separately elsewhere.

Speaking of den's of corruption et al - look no further than the 'beautiful game' <laugh><laugh>

Quite a few PL and ex PL teams have affiliations with the Betting Industry, including that paragon of virtue Ashley and with his football team's shirt embossed with Wonga

a lot of people bet like myself, I have £1 accumulations on football. I spend about £3 a week and yes most of the time I lose. Multiply £3 per week by 400 million customers and thats how bookies are billionaires. Its not the amount that people are betting, its the number of people who are betting. If I lose £3 a week does this mean that im not in control?, Anyone with any common sense knows that the bookie wins almost all of the time (hence they are billionaires) but on the odd occasions I win it makes it worthwhile for me and a bit of fun. I would say pubs are far worse to be honest as alcohol is a depressant, beer is advertised far more on TV etc than betting is. The fact is that if youre thick enough to bet more than you are willing to lose then you deserve to get into trouble. No-one is forcing people to bet. Its a very blunt but true statement. There was a documentary on the TV about 6 months ago about betting and it was a real eye opener as the bookies stated that nearly all of their money came from people betting less than £5 a week which really surprised me.
