RANGERS have clinched a deal to bring Kyle Bartley back to Ibrox - and he could face Chelsea on Saturday.

The official site can reveal that Arsenal have agreed to let the young defender join Rangers on loan for the season and he will arrive at Murray Park tomorrow.

Bartley, of course, had a loan spell with the Light Blues last season when he arrived in the January window and played an important role in the early months of the year,

He scored a vital goal at New St Mirren Park when Rangers were struggling with injuries and he also played in the Europa League.

Unfortunately he suffered a knee injury against PSV Eindhoven which put him out for the rest of the campaign.

However, he fully recovered and took part in Arsenal's pre-season campaign.

Ally McCoist made no secret that he was keen to land his man and now the 20-year-old centre back is returning to Ibrox.

There is still some paperwork to tie up but all things being equal Bartley will be involved against Chelsea on Saturday.

I'm pleased to see him back but would have preferred that we had bought someone. Loan deals are only ever stopgap measures and are a sign of poor planning.

Any news on Cuellar?

Is he still injured or pondering our offer or trying to get a club in Spain or what?

With Boogie about to leave we need him or another central defender to come in.

Not to mention a midfielder, possibly two, a winger and a striker.

Apart from that we're looking good!

<laugh>

We're in a worse position than we were this time last season (player wise) <yikes>

I've given up on Cuellar. If he really wanted to come, he'd have signed by now. It's clear that he's holding out for a better offer from someone else.

I'm thinking that if he comes to us at all it'll be right at the end of the transfer window after he's exhausted all other avenues trying to sign for a club in Spain or England.

That's the lure of the SPL for you.

The reason Cuellar hasn't joined yet is he is in talks with Villa over a loyalty bonus because he hasn't requested to leave, but Villa don't want to pay up.
Another reason I heard is that Villa have paid for all his treatment for current injury so are waiting for that before releasing him to us, but on all accounts I've heard he still wants to come.

Loyalty bonus??? <laugh>

Footballers wouldn't know loyalty if it bit them on the erse!

Are their over inflated wage packets not enough?

The greed in the game today makes me sick to my stomach.

Welcome back Kyle

Bartley looked great when he was on loan last season until he got injured. So, great to see him back, although would have preferred a permanent deal. Would love to see Weiss come back, we are missing a winger with pace.
