Does look good from the pitch looking up. Just a shame other 3 sides don't match it

kop is largest single tier stand in europe. the stretford end in manc toliet is <2k seats more

the ONLY issue we have is the stand designs has precluded the corners being filled in and this is what is coing to be the difference ebtweeh nus post pahse 2 and utd as biggest stadium outside wembley

only was to sort this is to sort it in anfield raod design, rip down kop roof and redsign and then rebuild whole centenary stand.

Makes the rest of the stadium look like puny legotown now
Glad there's an escalator so the OAPs off here can consider going to home games again

the point being unused <ok>

The station needs doing at a big cost. This would be at best part of a centenary stand rebuild and to get to say 75k.. which would be buy 60? houses and do this.

If the council would open the rail link that would be nice.

Didn't the club hand some of those houses to a developer to regenerate the area. those living in them would feel quite hard doen by.

My view is lets see if they do the anfield road end first.

As far as I know either Merseyrail or Railtrack UK own the unused line, I'm sure over the course of a season or so they'd cover the cost of building a new station as both reds and blues would use it as well as everyday rail users.

I'd deffo use it....if they built(reopened)the station at Knotty Ash, I'd be at the new Anfield station and within walking distance of the ground in a few minutes instead of getting two buses or a black cab on match days.<whistle>

The benefit of doing it a stand at a time, and things not matching, is a sense of ongoing transition and progress but still having the history. Jumping to a whole new stadium like Arsenal and West Ham loses a lot.

Itd be great no question. What would the cost be? Is the figure 50mil for alk mad? I thought i heard that.

Arsenal is the most expensive dead ground going and wet ham so far has been a bit dead.

I agree. The kop is the heart of the place. I dont think this stand helps really fir atmosphere unless it channels noise brilliantly. The tickets are still not cheap and half the added are fat cats.

I would love to know how the Anfield road end will be segregated as it looks a fans stand with the same capacity as the kop. Its almost a shane to let away fans in it... that will be interesting to see.

We'll have to see about the stand itself but it's already raised the atmosphere in terms of how great the ground looks and how excited people are for home games. There are plans to meet the coaches, let's see how that pans out.

Yes it should create a buzz.

I do think secretly that palace have shown the way in tbe orwm for athmosphere and we need a good cohort to say ok im not going to think having a fan singing group is unmanly or plastic and we need to get the songs back and louden up the place. I hope we dont see it all left to the kop.

Yup, but kop end still looks small in comparison to new main stand which is 3 tier when you look at it side by side.

This is quite a good site if your interest in construction projects in Liverpool. There's a very good forum on the LFC Main Stand. I've also been following the new Mersey Gateway bridge project. Impressive how they're building that bridge.

Anyway just thought you might be interested. RAWK nick a lot off this site.

BTW your own cities will probably have a version of this website.
