Muslims celebrate only two festivals Eid-ul-fitr, which comes after Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha during Hajj. Hajj: The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to the Ka’ba in Mecca, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during the pilgrimage whether they be with him or not. Day of Arafah: The day of 'Arafah is one of the holiest day in Islam that falls on the 9th day of Dhul Hijja of the lunar Islamic Calendar. This happens to be approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan. It is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and the day after is the first day of the major Islamic Holiday of Eid ul-Adha. At dawn of this day, Muslim pilgrims will make their way from Mina to a nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafat and the Plain of `Arafah. It was from this site that Prophet Muhammad (saw) gave one of his last famous sermons in the final year of his life. There are various reasons as well as this of course. Muslims believe this will be the palace we all will be resurrected for the final judgement. Muslims tend fast on this day. Eid-ul-Adha: This is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened sending his angel Jibra'il (Gabriel) and informs him that his sacrifice has already been accepted. The meat from the sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts. The family retains one third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy. In the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and lasts for three days.
