I was more pointing out the fact that he predicted a spiral half way through last season, if it stays on here long enough he may well be right but at the point of the OP he certainly wasn't.

This thread was very accurate, and is very accurate. The spiral is happening in front of our eyes.

Could turn out to be the thread of the year

Well he did say in the second post that it was to chronicle their rise last season, and their decline this season.
Which is still unnecessary and bitter, but he did claim from the start that it would be this season.
Even though we are 4 games in to the season. (Two of which were against Liverpool and Arsenal)
I would laugh my arse off if Leicester finished above Spurs. Don't think that would happen but it would be hilarious.

As I've posted on the various match threads - I thought Liverpool's passing and movement around the box was exceptional and there are certainly no complaints about the result from me - only Arsenal did something to us anywhere like that last season (at ours) - Claudio changed things after that game and I suspect he will now too.

I did think some of our decision making and game management was naiive at times ... Kasper epitomising it on the last goal.

What I do love about us mind is that we do try to win every game and even 2-0 and 3-1 down you know that we won't only try and get equal we'll try and win - that makes for very watchable football...

As for HIAG's thread and his bleatings ... rather insignificant ... he could start a "Spurs Win the EPL" thread and if he leaves it on here long enough? ...<laugh> OK that's probably being a bit daft ... but you get the drift ...

Reality - we lost to a very good Liverpool team that put in an exceptional performance on the day (certaiinly in the attacking third) - the same team that probably should have won at Spuds if we all being honest ... now if we had got spanked 5-1 by relegation fodder for instance, I would be concerned ... who knows I may even be tempted to create a "Let's All Worry" thread ... as it is I'm looking forward to seeing how Claudio reacts and our game againsts Bruges in mid-weel ... hoping to see the likes of Slimani, Mendy, and Kaputska feature ...bring it on!

If you can can continue to reproduce such attacking form, why not?

My concerns for you would be as follows:

Sturridge - very clever player and his ingenuity was the fulcrum for your attacking play - but the chances of him having any extended run fitness wise?

Defence - your defence isn't on a par with your attack - I was disappointed that Ranieri didn't bring Musa or Gray on against James Milner much earlier .. he did very well against Mahrez who likes to float past people and on receiving the ball delays sometimes long enough for cover to arrive - which Henderson did most effectively all game. Musa, Gray (and Schlupp if fit) are more direct and would have just used raw pace - I think he looks vulnerable to that. I was impressed with Matip who did well against Vardy but I'm not sure how he will get on against bigger men - we certainly improved in terms of ball retention when we brought Ulloa on.

Fair assessment.

Our defence needs work, however Klopp is a firm believer of defending from the front. All our 11 players are defenders, it's how he plays. He just needs to implement this so the team fully understand their roles.

Matip will be fine against bigger players, he's about 8 foot tall!

As Luvvy said, Sturridge isn't a problem, we have so many players more than capable of changing a game. Sturridge isn't a starter for us most games (even when fit). So no panic there. Our front players when on sync are deadly, the understanding they're getting from each other is scary. We can literally tear a team to pieces with the movement. Once the defence is sorted we're going to be a very hard team to beat. Plently of teams will take a spanking as on the counter we're very good indeed.

On your day as on Saturday, attacking wise you are unplayable. There's no question you perform against the top sides (I include ourselves in that this season) and if the inconsistency against teams like Burnley is rectified, you will be there or thereabouts. Despite your wind ups it would be refreshing to see Liverpool win as it is overdue and I have Scouse family so would be good for them. You're about a left back and centre back of being ready IMO

Yeah I'd agree. They look great going forward. But the back door is far from secure!...

It'll be 'your year' one day. Unfortunately for you the Manchester clubs are a cut above as things stand.

This years aim has to be top 4, the Manchester clubs will probably battle it out for 1st and 2nd. I don't see any other team as good as we are in the PL except those 2.

If we manage to get top 4 then I'm hoping we can attract the couple of missing pieces to make us real contenders. Klopp's first interview he did say it would take a few years for his plan to work.

It seems to be going well so far.

Some fans think Klopp is another Rodgers, clearly on the wum tbf.

Klopp has brought a totally different style of play to our team, like Leicester (and Arsenal) have seen this year, when he gets it right we're dangerous.

We have to be with a good shout for top 4 this season, especially having a lesser schedule than most of our competition.

Interesting times for sure.

That's also a reply to @JohnTheFox post, too lazy to quote both!

I'd say that top 4 is an absolute must given what you've been spending.

I think you and Arsenal will be battling each other for 4th with Chelsea just above in 3rd and the Manchesters way out ahead.

Pretty much what I said at the start of the season, except I had Spurs in the mix for 4th too.

???

This summer we technically didn't spend a penny.

You spent about £65-70m mate

I know which response is coming, but its been such a long term since I heard a Liverpool fan say it, its like goading a celebrity into saying their catch phrase......

There should be an end-of-the-season vote for the best thread on this board!

But, yes, I agree with you, this is a superbly prescient thread. The OP is to be highly commended.

Thanks, mate.
