See, I'd disagree with that.

If you look at our board, most of us, especially the older ones, lean towards caution. Or even pessimism. We've seen all the false dawns before and know not to count any chickens.

Yes, I'm more optimistic about the future now than I've been for a while. We have a pretty good young side and one of the best managers in the PL, imo. So, why not be a little more optimistic?

The RS only have to win a game and the title challenge is back on. Nailed on for top 4 etc etc etc rinse and repeat.

I think we need to take one big lesson from Leicester's title win. This is a team game!

Yes, of course we miss Bale and Modric, who wouldn't? They're two world class talents and regulars for the European Champions.

But, this game, as Leicester showed, is about finding the right pieces for your particular 'jigsaw' and then putting them all in the right place.

In Bale and Modric you are talking about two World Class players, and it was always going to be a struggle for us to hold on to them for any length of time. They would improve any side, so it is little wonder that we were a stronger side with them in it!

As for Redknapp, I was very firmly in the camp that wasn't sorry to see him go. I never wanted him at the club in the first place. He came to us at a time when we were massively under-achieving, and I genuinely believe that any manager would have been able to do what he did, which is raise us to the level at which we have remained since he left - further proof that it wasn't down purely to Redknapp that we settled down as a regular top 5 side.

My main beef with Redknapp is that he was so tactically limited. Poch is a far superior tactician, and you get the feeling that his core squad respect him completely. Too often with Redknapp's sides you never knew which Spurs was going to turn up.
 
Hold on a ****ing minute now, no ****ers taking our delusion tag I've been banging on about us winning everything for 25 years and you twats think that some bunch who can't even get 2nd are the new Liverpool? There has to be occasional glory for a true fan to keep up this kind of delusion there has to be near misses and heartache, Spurs don't even come close, you buch of ****ers best take that back and put us back where we belong. Anyway come May when we've won the league and beaten down the money clubs you'll all be bowing down to our glorious majesty once more, the futures ours. YNWA

Being optimistic is good. And you are a realist (when it comes to football at least :p), but there are others who are not imo.

See for me, I have this thing where I always try to tell it as it is, with little to no club bias.
Like at the beginning of this season, there were a few nitwits who think Chelsea will not get back in to the top 4, now I may have some unconscious bias, I dont know, but I could tell just by looking at the signings made and the way Conte conducts himself that Chelsea would challenge again.
Like last season, I knew we were going to do terribly, said as much, and we did.
Not that my predictions are always correct, just that I feel they are made from a place of objectivity (ie head instead of heart).

Now its far too early for me to say I have been vindicated in my prediction that Chelsea would challenge, but early signs are good.
Plenty of time to go though :D

Under Poch, do you not feel that your squad lacks Wenger's favourite attribute, "Mental stwength and baleeef"?
Your team had a deltmown that nearly rivalled ours at the end of last season, only the end of the season stopped it in its tracks.
Losing at home to Southampton then receiving a pasting from relegated Newcastle.
I think you have only won one of your last 7 league games right?

I think what happened against Chelsea shows how desperate Spurs were to win the title. Quite simply, the lads refused to take the usual **** off your players, and give it back to them in bucket-loads. That famous photo of Vinnie Jones squeezing Gazza's bollocks is how, up to that moment, the rest of the league had looked up us. That image has, at long last, been consigned to history. We fell apart after failing to beat you, but that was only because we knew we couldn't win the title. I don't think you can extrapolate beyond that. For example, we are currently unbeaten, despite the fact that we haven't got any where near into our proper stride. It's how we started last season. It that was United, everyone would be crowing about character and other such bollocks.
