It's ironic that you highlight Kagame, a guy who is very quick to focus anger on the hypocrisy of former colonial nations who criticise him. He is still a dictator responsible for human rights abuses though, which is why he does face criticism. Africa is a big place, the countries you single out have been ravaged by tribal war so it's not unexpected that they're a little behind our western standards. Corruption exists in Africa but it's beginning to become a stereotyped commentary, especially when you think about what happens on the world scale. I would consider corporate tax avoidance in this country and the role of big business in politics globally as a form of corruption, just that such labels are the preserve of less developed (read populated by black or brown people) countries.

And no matter what context you wish to bring to it, historical or otherwise, it's been a VERY long time since murder was considered okay... you know, par for the course when bringing these savages to heel. Thankfully we're losing these old school colonial attitudes and it's essential we do look at our past actions and measure them by more modern / progressive standards... To not do so would mean we'd learn nothing.

Africa is different and adopting western standards all in one foul swoop would never work. A transitional period lasting perhaps 15 to 30 years is necessary and Kagame is moving in the right direction. Sure enough he s a de facto dictator despite being elected. However, he is a benevolent dictator, which I think is exactly what is required during the transition period.

As for human rights abuses, perhaps we should adopt some of them, i.e. forcing criminals to work 12 hours a day fixing pot holes, maintaining drainage and side walks and clearing rubbish. If they try to escape they are shot, but trying to escape is their choice.

Kagame has chosen to forgive and be inclusive towards Hutu's who killed 800,000 of his own Tutsi people during the genocide rather than carry out revenge so he gets accused of harbouring war criminals. Personally I think that is the right way to go.

He may choose to fund forces fighting in other countries that are friendly to his regime, so does the UK, the US, Russia, France and many other countries.

He doesn't allow opposition who clearly want to take Rwanda back to the dark ages, in the UK we also don't allow them either, we call them terrorists or hate preachers and lock them up, which comes to your first point, he is quite right to accuse the west of hypocrisy.

We know that "do not as I do, do as I say" is a major refuge for politicians.

Some more Christian 'do unto others as you would have done unto yourself' and
Confucian 'I would not recommend to others that which I have not tried myself'
would make the political world a better place.

Do you reckon people like him and Abu Hamza Al-Masri (also known as Captain Hook) guilt trip people into joining extremist groups? I reckon they try and point out that Muslims are suffering in the Middle East and it's our job to try and 'rescue' or 'liberate' them. Then they use/manipulate Islamic verses to give some sort of validation to their cause. Abu Hamza was another one who got away with preaching hateful stuff for a long time in Finsbury Park Mosque. I think he's imprisoned somewhere in the US now, but he also had a large following. That being said, I suppose you have to factor in employment status and age when they recruit for different terrorist groups, as well.
We might do well to ask ourselves whether there are places where a lot of young men find the prospects of getting a wife, a job, and a home dismal. Trouble will follow soon, if it isn't already there. Many young men would prefer to risk their lives for any vision of anything resembling honor, glory or dignity rather than endure a life of what amounts to humiliation. If rich countries would act, and would have acted, proactively to provide jobs to young people in the Islamic world I think we wouldn't be in the situation of trying to figure out why killing lots of them isn't making us any more popular.

It looks like Nigel Farage has finally thrown off the rather thin veil and is openly going to be working for Putin.
Rumour has it that he's going to accept an offer from RT to host a show for them, despite acknowledging their dubious nature.
It's funny how many of these Man of the People types fawn over such a horrible dictator. I wonder why...?

Donald Trump was talking up the blatantly corrupt lunatic yesterday, too. I'm sure he'd love to emulate him.
Can't see The Orange One getting an 83% approval rating though, even if he asked his own family.
He'd clearly like to have a few journalists disposed of, though.

I always thought, when Trump and Bernie Saunders were on the platform, one sounded like Hitler and the other acted like Hitler.God help America if Trumperty becomes dictator.Oh sorry! I meant president....

There's some fairly strong speculation around that clinton had an epileptic seizure.

Not really sure that it's the least bit relevant, but it has also been suggested that her colostomy bag fell off as she was getting in the car to leave the ceremony. being a gentleman and all, I woukdn't mention it. But hey, it's Hillary 'I want to nuke the rest of the world' Clinton <run>

I think you're getting her mixed up with Donald ""If we have nuclear weapons why can't we use them?" Trump, to be honest.

I think this is a huge and widely held misconception.

Clinton is a neo con. She's talked about war with russia, and obliterating iran.

Trump talks about reducing american intervention internationally (which in recent years has concsistently been a catastrophic failure), alligning the west with russia, and increasing the military so as to act as a deterent.

It's overwhelmingly clinton who is the military aggresor, and not trump.

What she didn't have is "pneumonia" as was the official explanation

Clinton's more of the same, but Trump's an unstable arsehole who'd kick off at any country that annoyed him.
He can't even ignore people Tweeting about him, FFS.

The "If we have nuclear weapons, then why can't we use them?" quote isn't a misconception, by the way.
It's something that he's supposed to have asked foreign policy advisors repeatedly.

He wants to align with Russia for a bunch of dubious reasons, including his own financial ones.
It's nothing to do with being against war or for more diplomacy.
His own campaign manager had to go because he was on the take from them.

Clinton is definitely not "more of the same". Obama has actually applied an ever increasingly mature steady hand and common sense approach. Clinton is as big a military imperialist as there is (ezcept for john mccain, who's clinically insane).

I'm not sure where you get the contention from that trump's foreign policy is driven by his personal financial interests, but even if that's correct, it makes no difference to me. The end result is a far more sensible solution to global politics than that which clinton would pursue.

Trump's an absolute fruitcake. He'd go to war if he was insulted in the same way that Obama was last week.
He literally can't ignore anyone slighting him. He flipped out at a gold-star family. It's ridiculous.

Trump's own son said this about his family business in 2008:
"Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."
Trump has denied having any Russian involvement in his finances this year, but won't release his financial records.
Various conservative journalists have suggested that this is why.

The mere fact that he talks up a corrupt megalomaniac who has those that speak out against him killed or arrested is a joke.
That should be enough to end any political ambitions, but it seems that he ploughs on regardless.
He's an utter lunatic and a failure of a businessman.

God help America if they're stupid enough to elect that charlatan!

Although they seem to be taken in by them fairly easily, far more easily than we would. My first wife was American, and when I went there for the first time, I remember hearing one of these evangelical preachers on the radio. 'God loves you, but he'll love you even more if you send me some money', etc. I actually burst out laughing because I thought it was a joke. Until my wife explained to me that it wasn't, and that people actually sent millions of dollars to these charlatans!!
I couldn't believe it, I thought she was winding me up, but no!.....

I once saw this on American tv.."send us a check and we will pray for you".

Terrorists might say..."write me a check before we shoot you. Then I'll take your women..."

From the BBC:
The richest 1% of the UK population owns more than 20 times the wealth of the poorest fifth, according to Oxfam.
That made Britain one of the most unequal countries in the developed world and contributed to the vote for Brexit, the charity said.

Great. That'll really help. <doh>

Anyone taking anything from that exaggerated head bob is an idiot. It's clearly a joke.
There might be something medically wrong with Clinton, but this guy's not in a position to say:
http://www.snopes.com/hillary-clinton-has-parkinsons-disease/

He's a bloody anesthesiologist with an axe to grind.
I'm sure he'll be calling for Trump's medical and financial records next, though.
Post that video when he does, ok?
