sure his off the field issues are an issue but his ability on the field would without doubt strengthen our first 11. Wosn't it just a couple of years ago he was player of the year for man city?

It probably comes down to whose place he takes, the answer probably being the second striker's spot, in which case he may be a good signing provides he does not detract from Nolan, Barton and eventually Ben Arfa's game. He won't move to be Nolan's backup, which is the only other role that he could realistically play.

When everyone is fit we can play the following:

------------------Harper--------------------

Simmo-----Willo--------Colo------Enrique

Barton-----------Tiote-----------Ben Arfa

-----------Ireland--------Nolan------------

-------------------Carroll-------------------

If he plays to his potential then he will be a good addition for you. If he messes with your team spirit and togetherness which I think has been the main reason for your relative success this season then he will turn out a bad move.

Tell him not to drive that pink trimmed motor around though.

Looks as the thought, he's undergoing a medical at SJP. Really unsure about Ireland, hopefully he doesn't disrupt team spirit at the club. But maybe him at Barton can strike up a good partnership. :)

I think it will be this:

Steve Harper

Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Jose Enrique

Joey Barton, Cheik Tiote, Kevin Nolan, Hatem Ben Arfa

Stephen Ireland

Andy Carroll

Sounds quite good to me, although I'm a big fan of 4-4-2 but a lot of teams seem to go with 5 in midfield and it seems to work. As long as you have a bit creativity in the team (i.e Ireland)

He's a wally.

Look at his house:

Also, his interviews after leaving Man City showed him to be mouthy, bitter, unprofessional and graceless. Repeatedly fallen out with managers and other players. He is not the kind of character the Newcastle dressing room needs - currently the strength of the squad is the togetherness and attitude after getting rid of overpaid egos

Add to that he plays the one position our squad has strength and depth in - central midfield. Nolan, Barton, Tiote, Guthrie, Smith, Gosling, Vukic. We need right wing and leftback cover, and maybe a pacey striker.

I hope we don't get him.
