There was some sort of study by safc around 15 years ago and it was said there were more sundland supporters in washington (season card holders) than any other place outside ofsundland.

Supercool Bryan Ferry went to Washington Grammar School. He and his four sons are all staunch Newcastle United fans :)

What year did you leave mate?
I left in '83, played lots of sport with Blackfyne, English Martyrs, Moorside, South Stanley.
Not just football but cross country & athletics too.
Got a bit tasty at times.

I left in 96. Sport must have gone downhill by the time I got there. I remember playing football at a few of those places but there was one year we didn't even have a football team and I don't remember us ever doing any athletics or cross country against other schools. There were a few games of rugby though.

    Twat yes
    Bowler yes
But I wasn't born until 1981 so I'm going to say 'no'

I never actually played for the school as most years there wasn't a team when i was there. Ryton U15's, U16's and the B team (or C team). We weren't very good but travelled all over the place for games. I bowled to Andy Pratt when he was was in his young 20's and Garry Pratt in his late teens a handful of years before he ran Ponting out :) Love to say i did well but truth is they creamed me all over.

Aye I thought it was a chance in a million that it was you :emoticon-0100-smile when I played there they had this weird wicket - it was something like compressed cork or something. They also had them at Moorside and Blackfine they were terrible when you weren't used to them. You would be going forward to a good length ball and once it pitched whoosh it was round yer lugs and that was before helmets were invented. I wore specs as well so my face could of been in an even worse mess than it is now! <laugh>
