http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/former-premier-league-referee-mark-8760242 Mark Halsey has said he was told to say he hadn't seen incidents which he had seen by the PGMOL. Holy **** this could end up being huge, form of corruption is it not? Interesting to see what happens with this, and if there has been bias for certain clubs...
Just proves how farcical the rule is about not being able to take retrospective action if an incident has been seen by an official. Hopefully the best thing that comes from this, is that the rule is dropped. Even if the refs have been lying, the truth would only end up benefitting a player from punishment, who has clearly done something wrong. Unethical it maybe, but I think corrupt is too strong a word. Money or favours were unlikely to have changed hands
End of the day , seen or not, aguero tried take Reid's head off with his elbow ( a poor effort mind) and should be banned for 3 games. Do that in the street on a Friday night you're nicked. Simple.

Why o why has Mark made these comments. Last thing the refs need right now. Is he a bit of an attention seeker?
A few years ago, and this tale was in it. There was a very pathetic row between him and Graham Poll over it: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/08/graham-poll-attacks-mark-halsey-referees-betrayal
I doubt it. This is probably accurate. Obviously returning after cancer is worthy of respect. But I wouldn't pay attention to much else he says.
Maybe corrupt isn't the right word but if it benefits a player then it benefits the club too doesn't it? I agree that it's quite general. Surely would need specifics about matches/players involved. It wouldn't suprise me though. There's corruption everywhere in football. Only logical that it could be here too.
Of course they are, doesn't automatically make them false. Though the question does need to be asked if he has anything against the body? And what he has to gain from it?
I've read Halsey's book and it has some very interesting accusations in it. He attacked Mike Riley and Graham Poll amongst others. I'm not saying I believe all of it but I certainly believe that there were, and still are, some right ****s in the PGMOL. I certainly think some people put their personal agendas ahead of the game. This isn't just from the book either. I do have contacts within the refereeing world who have access to the upper reaches of refereeing and am really pissed off with some stuff I've heard.
Sounds interesting... care to expand on your last sentence? Also I might be wrong but isn't one of the senior roles in the PGMOL held by an FA employee too? So if there is truth in these allegations then that could mean there's a chance the FA are involved as well.
Fair enough, must be pretty bad then. This is why you shouldn't have your real name as a username Do you know if I'm right in my 2nd paragraph? Swear I read it somewhere ages ago but might have imagined it
