I thought we would be one of the strongest sides this season with a few recruits in.
Now I'm hoping top 6 at best Jerome was terrible last season and he's our main threat and if Klose gets injured we have the same frustrating clowns waiting to come on and balls it all up .
We had funds to at least get a really good striker in and we didn't.
We are the architects of our own demise.

I'm not sure we'll even be top 10.
That has to be the BIGGEST 'damp squib' of a transfer window ever. OK, we've kept Brady and Klose, but both have to massively up their game from their performance of last Saturday.
Looking forward to reading AN's wrigglings/excuses as to why he didn't sign any more strikers

As has been said, Villa, Newcastle and Wolves all seem to have bought well and my feeling is that they will all be there or thereabouts come next May.
On the positive side, assuming we do have Maddison returning in Jan and AN (or whoever is our manager then) actually selects him to play for the first team, we could stage a late surge up the table and make the play offs.

Edit, I have saved this comment to repost in March/April!!!

He's James Maddison not Luke Skywalker.
If our entire season is pinned onto the shoulders of a 19 year old boy then we are truly ****ed.

I have mixed feelings about this window. My main concern at the start was to hang on to our best players. We lost Redmond, but to my surprise we kept Klose, Brady, Olsson and Naismith. Perhaps that limited our budget for new players and while I like the signing of Pritchard, Canos, McGovern and Oliveira, I had also hoped we'd sign another quality striker. I do feel that the Murphys have been brought into the squad and got more playing time than I would have expected by now, and, as such, could be considered like new signings along with Canos. I always felt that it'd be more difficult for Maddison as at 19, he's playing in probably the most technically demanding position behind Wes, Naismith and Pritchard. Hopefully he'll get game time with Aberdeen and return to us in January with more experience at a higher level and confidence that brings. Some good, some disappointment for me but I still think we're in with a good chance of promotion.

This transfer window for me has been the good the bad and the ugly.

It was good business to keep Klose, Brady and others like Howson. Our recruitment, AN statements about our recruitment and our loan of Maddison were all bad. Keeping and even playing some players who are well beyond their use by date was plain ugly.

No second striking arrival and a striking arrival that looked very 4th/5th/6th choice is terrible work from the recruitment team. AN has identified targets and it appears we missed the vast majority of them.

Bah!

Our ****ing board is useless! Im so ****ing pissed off!

We as fans need to let them know how annoyed we are!!

I'm really not as down as most of you appear to be... We got Oliveira in giving us some options up front, not least in how we play the striker role. We lost Redmond and a couple of half decent players like Vadis but we've retained Brady and Klose plus added some quality in Canos and Pritchard too. My main gripe is sending Maddison out whom I feel is ready to contribute but he's only loaned and with Wes and Pritchard we've got options in his position too. It really could have been a lot worse!

True but we are only a couple of injuries away from being midtable mediocrity

When is Pritchard going to be fit? I feel he might make a big difference to how we play and break teams down. Lets hope Nelson stays fit and knows how to bang them in! :-/

So the search for a striker went:

Fletcher = no
Assombalonga = no
Wells = no
Kodjia = no
McCormack = no
Sinclair = no
Rhodes = no
Mbokani = no
Oliveira = yes

That's pretty much it isn't it (didn't believe the Valencia link for one minute)

As Brucie would say "Didn't we do well ?"

On the striker hunt, why do we seem to always seek the hold up man? Good teams vary their style, adding pass and move to the system (but then you have to have players capable of passing accurately, which we seem to be sadly lacking). Maybe Oliviera will cause a change in our system, hopefully for the better. With Canos and Pritchard we could see more attacking and passing.

Well that's that then, yet another underwhelming transfer window for NCFC fans. We couldn't even manage to get rid of Lafferty and Naismith. It'll be interesting to see what kind of reception Naismith gets next match after he expressed a wish to leave for Sunderland.

He has to score at least a double hattrick to get the boo boys off his back! <ok>

Very disappointed but I can see an awful lot of sense in RER's post about getting Pritchard when McCormack deal fell through!
