Agree, we're one injury or suspension away from Yoshida having a long rub in the side and 1 further injury away from Turnbull/Stephens. Eugh.

Don't think a response to a fan sent a few minutes before is automated :)

Having Forster and the starting back four is going to be better regardless compared to the start of last season. Add in the fact that Victor missed games through suspension and injury and it's no different to last year really.

New system, and Fonte's a year older. He was already becoming fairly reliant on pretty risky tackles and grabbing last season.

And while Wanyama missed some games, he still started 29 of 38 league matches.

And Wanyama or no Wanyama, we still always had either two DMs, or three CBs. We weren't relying just on one person to both shield the CBs and fill in vacated FB positions.

Well, assuming that our business is done I've actually got no complaints. We have the squad of players at our disposal and its over to the manager to see what he can get them doing. Its a good squad but I agree light in cover for the defence.

I have been disappointed in Koeman's record with the academy players and I was pleased to hear that the club wanted that to change. We have opportunities up front and in defence for academy lads now and if we had signed a new striker and defender those would be limited. Can't have it both ways. If they come up short that will be just the way of it, at least we will have stayed true to the model we have lain claim to.

Claude has no easy task ahead of him there are at least 8 squads which I think on paper are better than ours and three more which are equal to ours. So he will have a huge battle on his hands to even make top 10. But its football, we've beaten every team in the league before, it will happen again no doubt. I'm glad this window is over lets get down to the business of watching some football.

Agreed, and I think its killing the game and our national side. The EPL governs the game in this country not the FA or FL.

That's almost a quarter of a season though! Agree on Fonte though. Hopefully he will rely more on judging tackles and runs this season rather then getting caught goal side and bringing down attackers unnecessarily.

It is almost a quarter of the season. But that leaves more than three quarters of the season that he did play, heh. He was sixth on the team in minutes played, so he was hardly a sporadic presence.

Spurs have matched Evertons bid for Sissoko. Player now having to decide between the two. Nice bit of drama for the final hour.

What are you doing Tottenham?! Aside from the fact that he's not worth anywhere near that (although if any manager can get him performing on a regular basis, it might well be Poch), it would prevent Everton from throwing £30m down the drain!

Barnsley fans keep asking about Isgrove. The club responded with this

Not much chance of Everton finding a GK in the next 46 minutes though.

Right so it seems we are done. I have to say I'm disappointed.

I'm happy with the players we've brought in but still think we're very light up top and in DM in particular.

My big concern, as I mentioned a few weeks back is the fact that while we've struggled for goals for a couple of seasons now, our defence has been solid.

It's been a huge part of our success and my worry that is if we start leaking goals and still struggle at the other end we're really gonna struggle this year. It seems we're relying on Boufal adapting quickly and not having injury recurrences.

Also I still maintain that you can't do this much selling/replacing every Summer and not expect it to bite you one time. Hopefully that's not this season. I should add that this is not a new opinion, I said this early in Rons first season.
