Wilfred Bony putting cryptic tweets out...

"It’s a new day and I look forward to a new exciting challenge"

Personally I think RB is more pressing and our weakest position.
Martina is not fancied by Puel and we have a good deal on the table to sell. Cedric has been inconsistent and I think we can do better.

If we can get someone who can play as Centre back as well then that would be useful

Someone like Callum Chambers then?

Whilst I would like Wilshere, I can understand that if the club honestly isn't looking for another CM, then they wouldn't be interested. Fine. But we've made it quite clear that we're interested in a RB. So to see Chambers joining Boro I find quite galling.

Do we think we are getting anyone in? I'm not sure unless someone leaves. Think we have 2 teams with the new formo.

Forster/McCarthy

Cedric/cuco fonte/yoshi vvd/gardos or Stephens bert/targett

Hoj/jwp rom/clasie Davis/reed

Tadic/boufal

Long/Redmond Austin/jrod

Can't see anyone else coming in. Couple kids aren't far away for cups.

That is a 23 man squad. You forgot Pied so it is 24 and must be one of the smallest for this season's PL. May make good sense in more ways than one. Bournemouth have about 30 so they must have a massive wage bill.

Yes, just ask Newcastle and Villa what they think...
Not sure bringing up a couple of teams over and over again counts. We are the only team doing it, so you can ask any of the other teams in the league what they think...

Newcastle and Villa failed to keep their stars and then started buying to fill holes. That actually sounds similar to us...

Didn't count pied as he's out for the season? Hesketh and olomola are fancied I believe, from the nippers. Probably another 2 or 3 that would get into a cherries 30 man squad

If Hesketh doesn't make it his season, he won't ever. I suspect he won't. Olomola is well liked at Staplewood, but a bit inbetweeny. Not an all out striker, not a number 10. Those kind of players tend to drift away if they can't be one or the other.

Sorry, I thought that was exactly what 8BallPuel was getting at. I read it as if they were on the same side as you. Only they know how they meant their post to come across, though.

Hesketh needs some games I guess, looked up to it for the tiny bit of first team he had. Olomola is big enough to have some games, but agree needs a nailed on position to improve

My fears for Wilshere would be

1. The amount of time he spends lying on his back on the physio's bench
2. The amount of time he spends lying on his back during games having been blown over by the slipstream of another player

Vin

Not forgetting the amount of time he (allegedly) spends lying in bed on hangover mornings.

I rate Wilshire very highly, but don't really see much to be gained from taking him on loan on big wages.

Have you not read your "Southampton Way" Bible recently?

Reed, Chapter 2, Paragraph 17 - "We shall not taketh loans from other Premier League teams, it's a bit like cheating innit"

From SSN

QUIET DAY AT SAINTS

Doesn't seem like there will be much going on at St Mary's today.

They have been linked with Sebastien Haller and Cuco Martina could leave for Everton, but that would depend on Southampton finding a replacement.

Otherwise not too much activity.

Other than the likes of Ryan Bertrand. I mean, that turned out well enough. If the right deal came up, we would

Article from the Ugly Inside about the continuing uncertainty about Fonte. Now as you know I have a mild tendre for Fonte :emoticon-0111-blush, but no one is bigger than Saints so am getting cross about this. He goes away to Euro 2016 with all our fans behind him and we excitedly waited for our cup winning Captain to return.....then get the cold shoulder. I know all he has done for us, but we've done a lot for him too.........does anyone honestly think he would have made the Portugal squad without Saints. We lifted him to the big time when his career was drifting....his experience with us and the responsibility of marshalling an ever changing backline combined with the captaincy made him the player he is now. We owe him, but he was also paid for that....now he owes us.
