Can this transfer get any more complete without it being official! <laugh>

The fact that VDV was 20 minutes away from not happening due to the lateness of it all is frankly an appalling indictment of our happy-go-lucky chin-up-lets-hope-for-the-best transfer policy over the past 7 years. If he hadn't suddenly magically become availabl in the last hours of that window, forgive me for saying it like this but we would have been utterly ****ed.

This is it in a nutshell. It's not what we spend or who we buy but the fact that it's all so ****ing last minute and crassly amateur. How we ended up going through last season with no back-up to Kane, I'll never understand. Don't give me N'Jie, Chadli or Tom Carroll could do the job, as I'm not in the mood! We tried to buy a striker but thought we'd leave it until someone rang Last Orders before going to the bar.

The transfer window allows clubs to identify their weaknesses and sign players who will strengthen those areas. Everyone has a budget and you shop within that. You don't sign nobody because you can't have Zaha for loose change or Isco won't come, whilst selling players who could do some sort of job. We always spend the last day of the window lurching around the market trying to shop like a drunk on Christmas Eve with 5 minutes until the shops shut. If we buy anything it's likely not to fit and will generally disappoint the kids. It's unnecessary and bad business practice and I'm bored with it.

You sign the best player you can get or keep what you've got. Over numerous years we've failed to grasp this and have ended up with Rasziak, Fraser 'Bloody' Campbell, Ryan Nelson and there are others. This summer is shaping up to be another where we are going into the season short of what we need. It's poor management and it makes us look bloody silly.

Is Isco stuck in Liege ??
Judging by the destination list there, he could well have been travelling
for 3 years via that route.
