Current state of play with the squad is as follows. Lot of work to to do in the next few days..

The only way we'll not be very busy is if we **** it up. So here's to a busy few days. Nail it Bain.
 
Keeper, whether it be back up or first choice I'm not arsed. Assuming no one else leaves I would be very happy with Iborra, Mason and a striker.

But if lens is going aswel we need another one in and that's before we've even got 2/3 midfielders and a striker and back up keeper..

Hoping it can be done but won't hold my breath..
 
A goalkeeper
A LB/CB (maybe a player who can cover both positions??)
2 x CM (maybe only 1 IF Mvila is coming in Jan)
1 x Winger/forward (if Lens leaves)
1 x striker

That's 5 players in 2 days.
 
I wouldn't class Mason as an attacking midfielder...

DM (M'Vila will sign on the last day)

We have a 2 or 3 players to cover the AM position, but if I'm allowed to be greedy, that's also a position I would like filled.

Spend about 3m on the loan players. 7 million on Iborra, about 2.5 million on M'Villa and about 6m - 8m on a forward.

We'll get a couple of million back for Lens loan.

About 16 or 17 million could see us well sorted. Not a lot to ask really, is it?

Id say this plus a wide forward/winger of some description to replace Lens.

I reckon we could cope without him, but it wouldn't be ideal. Borini sounds like he could be out for a while now, so yeah we should be looking to bring somebody else in. Watmore and Januzaj, are our weakest two at present, but now our only two.

I really think Watmore needs a season in the Championship to sort his game out and mature into a better footballer.

I'd agree with all of that mate. We could be falling into that trap of relying on youngsters instead of going at their pace because at present, we can't afford to send Watmore out. Probably couldn't risk sending out Gooch, Greenwood and Honeyman on loan without recall options which would mean short term loans.

.......Mason is a CM by trade, but I can see him in an 'attacking midfield' role in a 3 with Iborra or Mvila working the middle and Jan or Catts protecting the back four. He's the only midfielder we'd have who could bag goals regularly. Maybe Iborra, too.

Piennar's legs aren't up to it over the course of a season, or a game even. Gooch needs bringing along in stages. Who else is there for that role?

Khazri looks off the pace, I'm not sure he has the energy needed for such a role, and i see him competing for one of two wider, inside forward roles alongside Watmore, Januzaj and Borini.

Without decent signings our midfield is bereft of goal scorers, irrespective of injuries.
