This local lad from Tickton deserves his own thread today. Two single wins in a 3-2 defeat of Serbia in the quarter finals of the Davis Cup. Both in three straight sets. At age of 21 he is now no 2 in the uk and looked really impressive today. Better on clay than grass it seems, but both matches were played on clay in the rain!
So actually English? And winning games? I hope the media and middle class ****s who watch tennis don't destroy him.
Someone's bound to come on in a minute and point out he wasn't born in England, but England's all he's ever known and he's very much playing for what he considers to be his home country.
Ah ok, never heard of him, took the OP at face value. Still sounds more English, and therefore British, than that miserable scotch ****. Can you thank your missus for the info pls??
I've had the pleasure of hearing regular updates about his progress for quite some years, as someone I know knows him well having trained with him, and they predicted his success years back. It's been interesting, and hearing the sacrifices he and his family have made to help him along, it's refreshing to hear he's still well grounded and tries to keep in touch with people from the early days.
I think he is good enough to become our next Tim Henman , but thankfully without the hyperbole and fanny wetting that we had to endure before Happyface Murray burnt the record book
Are you an about someone completely different to Henman? Because Henman won none of the majors. He didn't even make a final. I would rather Edmund follow Murray's example and win things.
