We clearly disagree then. Perhaps it looked good in training. Perhaps it worked in pre-season.

All this now is about fans demanding instant success. I get that, I really do, but I I think it's unfair on the new manager.

For the record Os, I've not accused you of being negative (or intended to).

I've also not said the manager is 100% right. This is the sort of extreme translation that starts a row and I'm not going to do that.

Just because I've raised an alternative view it downs mean i'm accusing you of being negative (I actually find your posts fine). It also doesn't mean I'm saying you are 100% away from my view or the manager is 100% right. I too like the tactical discussion, but it is those that go over the top with the negativity that drive me nuts and those who appear to expect business as usual after a big change.

Moyes said he played a diamond too. Says he has to be flexible due to lack of players and has to play to stop other teams scoring. Have to say I have read several match reviews in the papers and they all concentrate on their goalie...I guess we are used to being more entertained, but no media reports suggest anything overly wrong with us. Time to chill.....and pray :)

I don't think it's unfair on anyone who is paid a great deal to perform a role to perform it to the best of their abilities. In the arena of professional sport that, to my mind at least, means doing your utmost to beat the team in front of you, whoever they are. How many games and how many lost points is acceptable to bed in a new system? I think I know the answer that all of the absolute winners would give, and it's less than two. I'm not calling for his head, I'm simply pointing out that contrary to what you said in the post I responded to initially, most managers would be changing something that patently isn't working in order to try and win the game and not persevering with it for the next couple of games too. I'd call it common sense rather than an unreasonable demand.

Most pronounced when he signed for Spurs and persuaded all his "mates" in the first 11 there was nothing to stay for either.

Moyes also saw he was getting over run in midfield, so changed to a five man midfield. That is when Sunderland started to worry us.

Completely agree mate. I've seen people on Twitter genuinely wanting Puel out. I think football just attracts a lot of reactionary drama-queens for some reason!

We had stints where we picked two points or less in three matches both under Koeman and MP, it's really means nothing. It's too early in the season to be worried. But we're not displaying some amazing football and people are discussing various issues in our style of play. Something completely normal.

You're so unaware how calm, composed and patient english fans are compared to temperamental fans from southern Europe. :D

This is exactly what the DM did under Koeman and Pochettino. We never played a true double pivot. If a fullback made a run, the CB's split, and Wanyama dropped back to play as a third central back.

I don't think so. The ones on here mostly seem to be, but I hear some very odd stuff around the ground and other places.

I've said before. 6-10 games before I judge. If we've lost points and lost ground, so be it.

I still don't agree with your comment referring to the arena of professional sport. For the very reason it is professional sport, things don't always go how you want and at times sports people, managers, players have to work out how to improve things. I didn't see Rory McCllroy throwing his Nike clubs out the window when he started using them because he didn't play well with them to start. And while I'm in golf and other sports, how come these top players change things when they are at the top? What's the point, they are at the top?

I disagree with your last line about other managers too. Managers don't give up after one or two games if it's something they believe in.

One line in your post implies you think Puel was not trying his upmost to beat the team in front of him. I'm sure you don't think that really.

    We just disagree.

When I returned to the car after the game Saturday, the 5live commentator was reviewing the game.
His view was that Southampton were in complete control and were it not for the penalty then Sunderland never looked like scoring.
He thought our equaliser looked inevitable and we were unlucky not to win in the end.

Not dismissing concerns, but the neutral didn't see anything terrible in our performance

Er... Everton £30m + Bolasie; Palace £32m Benteke (though one could say they just used the Bolasie money)
