The Flame Of Tara E.B.F. Stakes (Group 3) at 14:40 at Curragh has brought together only a small field, but what an interesting race it is. A.P. O'Brien usually sweeps a up a lot of the black type events and has a big chance again with the favourite Butterflies. But there are several other nice prospects in the race. The Weld trained Eziyra looks promising as does Sea Of Grace. There is however a possible upset here with the 550,000 euro purchase Pockerfullofdreams, which like Butterflies, is owned by Tabor, Smith & Magnier, but in the hands of J.M. Oxx. It could be a smokey, but I liked the run of Sea Of Grace when she quickened up nicely in a maiden at Tip in early July. Butterflies is going to take a real hand in the race, but I think Sea Of Grace could be quite a nice horse. It's a hard race though and will be well worth the watch, even if just for the spectacle.

Some of you might remember a few weeks ago that I put up a tip for Bosham, trained by Mick Easterby and part owned by his brother, former trainer Peter. That day it ran like a drain (finished last). The next time it ran it was a no-show too but then when nobody was watching anymore it bolted up at Beverley. The same friend that told me that one has now come up with another Mick Easterby trained, Peter Easterby part-owned beast running in the Beverley 1:50 – Tafahom —with the same apprentice aboard. It is a seven runner race and looking at the form, this one will be struggling to finish seventh; the same scenario as Bosham. In the morning odds it was 33/1. I am giving it a miss. (Apologies for late notice – wi-fi running as slow as one of my tips today)
Pink ribbon returns to goodwood and so does Miss S Brotherton which looks like a strategic maneuver . Down to 4/1 now
That donkey of Easterby’s was backed down to 16/1 and then withdrawn. Clearly somebody fancied it but now we will have to wait until it next (theoretically) runs to see if there is any word for it. At least when my mate shows up in the pub for the football in an hour, I won’t need a story having not had a penny on it if it had won! Ironic that Fahey won the race with a seven year old ridden by Adam McNamara, his nine year old was third, another nine year old was runner-up and the favourite was a seven year old – this should have been a NH race!
