Romeu / Hoj
Redmond / Stanciu / Boufal
Long

Subs: Tadic / Classie / JWP / Austin plus couple of defenders

My opinion = Decent

Davis doesn't even make the bench?

I agree at how much better our attacking options look with those 2 added in though.

If we played 1 upfront I'd probably give Austin a decent run of games too.

I thought JRod looked really dangerous when he came on today. Touch and movement were excellent. Sadly the midfield didn't see him, but he made some runs that were a class above Austin. I was all for the loan until being at the match today and he really impressed me.

That's how strong those two signings would make us. Could have Davis on bench as Yoshida can cover all back 4 but with the amount of games you could chop and change when players needed a rest.
This is why Jay Rod is looking to go out on loan, because if we get two players as mooted, this is how strong we'd be in a couple of weeks time.

On yesterday's evidence Tadic is wrong for the tip of the diamond. I think in Spain or Italy he'd be perfect for this role, but not in the Prem. He doesn't have the energy. When he went off and Redmond filled that slot, we suddenly looked much more annoying for the Sunderland defence. And Romeu is not good enough to be the base of the diamond.

The thing is, Puel sees everything that we have all been complaining about. Of course he does. In fact, to date his tinkering and substitutions have been excellent. The problem at the moment is his chosen formation. But let's face it, he's not going to give up on it so quickly, considering it has obviously bought him a lot of success. He obviously has faith that when he has worked out who fits in where, we will start firing, and he might be right.

I think what is key, is that as fans we be patient. This is another transition season unfortunately, so let's lower our expectations. We are likely going to finish bottom half, and it might be very frustrating at times. Get used to this. Don't worry about points won/dropped, but rather about individual/team performances etc. Hopefully we will start to play like we did last season, while we are still in the three cup competitions.

There is no way this squad can play 2 games a week effectively. If we are really only bringing in 1 or 2 more players AND loaning jay out then it's going to be a long season. It's been an awful transfer window.
