No, it just means that there is no longer an argument, just people swearing at each other, which in my experience usually ends up with it escallating into violence where there is no real winners.

Well we are going to have to agree to disagree. <ok>
Like I said here surely it is easier just to leave the thread in question. <ok>

Hello to all, I've come over to this site from BBC606. I have to say it is improving since the various clubs have appointed moderators. The first few days were awful, no banter litt;le mention of football, and the language was pretty eyewatering. It seem to be finding its feet now. I'm more of a reader than a poster I have to admit, but I think you have selected a fair and well balanced moderator. I live in South Tyneside, prefer it when all the north east teams are doing well, I'm a season ticket holder at Newcastle, but until the last few years also went to to any home games that I could attend at Roker Park and then the SOL with my Stepfather who lives and breathes Sunderland.l like to visit several other club boards, and I still keep an eye out for favourite posters from the very friendly clubs in the championship. I hope the site is sucessful
because many of the members from 606 have come to this site, and I would miss their posts even though as I say I do not post much myself.

As far as i am concerned it's about 'embracing change', certainly more freedom of speach on this board which i for one applaude, ignore the WUM's and get on with it, giving them a reaction is exactly what they want.

We live in a far to politically correct world now.

It's your choice.

thanks for that and thanks for proving my point. Sunderland and Newcastle fans can debate, have banter and abuse. Its a shame its the ones who abuse that get all the publicity.

Fair points mate,<ok>

I don't think anyone is advocating every thread turning into slanging matches, but they will happen no matter what, they did on the BBC site and got deleted.
The only difference here is if the thread isn't deleted don't get involved in it!
I can't see any point in viewing a thread and complaining about it.
Rather than complaining which takes effort, click the thread off no effort and sorted.

Bugger Bugger Bugger Bugger Bugger
You don't get it. I couldn't give a **** about swearwords, it's gratuitous abuse that bothers me.

Having a bit of banter witnh WUMs ( even those from up the road) is good fun. Even having Big_Chris on here posting his nonsense is fine.

It's when it decends into mindless insults that it becomes tedious and it's the waste of space that bothers me.

Can't we just ban the nutters like, I imagine, most of us would like to ban them from the games themselves

Yep, that's what I said <ok> . . . . and the insults followed !

Why thank you Syd! :) I must say I did enjoy my debate with a mag fan who was also interested in having a decent discussion on how our clubs are performing etc etc. A little bit of friendly banter included of course!

Gordon, I have to say that wherever you go, there will always be a few mindless idiots that find it impossible to communicate without getting angry and swearing. The rewarding part of it for me, is to rise above it. Once you come back with a suitable retort or correction to what the individual is ranting about, they generally pipe down and eventually leave, as in the case of the Carroll thread this morning. If you're very lucky, you might also get an apology! It's very early days my friend and it would be disappointing to see you leave the forum without at least waiting for the dust to settle. Hang in there and see what develops :)

<ale> for the sentiments, Dorset <ok> . . . . all I asked for was a moderation of the idiots ! People like 'Mackemsrule' has taken a personal dislike to me, simply 'cos I don't think we should be abusing each other - swearing is here to stay, and I swear as much as anybody, but I don't abuse people. That's where the aforementioned and I differ, thankfully <ok>

" Thankfully Syd with no agenda got the job "

What an absolutely stupid thing to say, Mackemsrule <doh> which sums up your 'abuse anybody with a different view' attitude

Please direct me to my post where I abuse you! <ok>

Unless you are saying my having a different viewpoint to you is abuse?

The only abuse I can find is you ABUSING ME calling me STUPID and an IDIOT!
But because you are saying it to me that's ok yes?

You compound this by saying I have taken a personal dislike to you!
Once again point me to where I have said this.<ok>

This is a forum a place to voice differing views, it would get boring pretty quickly if everyone agreed.

I await your pointing out my abuse with bated breath. :)

If you cant stand a bit of swearing, lad, you're following the wrong sport.

I can just imagine it now

CATS: Jordan would you so kindly put in a tackle, for every member of the opposing team is running past you although you were not there.

Get real Gordon <ok>

i can not beleive we are having this debate! what is wrong with some people, the internet is full of the foulest filthiest muck (so i've been told) anyone could wish to see and people are complaining about a few swear words and abuse. if you have kids , then there are plenty of ways of safeguarding them whilst online, and if you don't use them then a parent it is surely your fault. i know that the first couple of days the language was a bit strong on most threads, but it has settled down a bit now, and if a slanging match gets going and you don't like it then leave the room. i'm afraid that the mary whitehouses of the internet must feel that they have to sit through it all or they won't have anything to complain about. i have sworn acouple of times but don't always, i am not going to fall out with anyone over this but all i can say is "if it offends you don't read it / watch it / or listen to it, nobody makes you...............................and while i am here, hands off syd, its not an easy job and so far i think he is doing great.
