For our Saturday away game at Wigan I would expect to see the return of the “rested” players, who I hope can redeem themselves after the Barnsley match.

I would expect JFH to want to keep it tight and am not expecting many surprises:

    ----------------------Smithies--------------------
    --Onuoha ---Caulker----Hall-----Bidwell---
    -----------------Henry------Luongo------------
    --Ngabakoko------Chery--------Cousins---
    ------------------------Polter----------------------

Interestingly, we have the following players spare: Shopido, Kakay, Borysiuk, Washington…and of course Sandro!

I look forward to seeing your proposals.

How can a guy who scored 2 goals mid-week be left out?

What about Washington playing as part of the three behind Polter?

    Why drop Luongo ?

Also Shodipo played a full match on Tuesday...which was not in "the plan"...Shodipo will drop to the bench

There's a lot of competition for the central midfield places. It make sense to play Sandro again on the back of a good performance on Tuesday and Cousins should be given a chance to play in his best position, so I too would go with those two for the Wigan game. Hard on Luongo, and Borysiuk will be pushing for a regular spot soon too. And then of course there's teacher's pet Karl Henry. With such relative midfield riches, it's crazy to think of keeping Sandro after the window closes. We may have to ship him out on a subsidised loan if no one wants to buy him.

Somebody was doing crazy sliding challenges on Tuesday. Was that Borysiuk?

Think away from home this is the most likely, except it will the VW Caddy up front.

There are some great ideas in this thread and it is good that JFH has a few hard decisions to make:
    - to play Smithies or to give Ingram a longer run?
    - which defensive midfield paring and should he play Sandro?
    - where, or if, should Cousins play?
    - Washington, the youngsters, 4-4-2? ...and the list goes on.

However, for this away match, I don't think that JFH will want to experiment too much and I expect him to want to keep it tight at the back with the objective of a clean sheet, with the intention of frustrating, snatching a goal and then adding pace and tempo toward the end. Thus, I expect a rather conservative, tried and tested, starting line up. Certainly, JFH will be very quickly judged on the final result.

I look forward to seeing his choice and hope that the team put in a great performance...and get a result. COYR's!!!

I think they have to take care with Luongo's motivation. A player with talent but was pretty invisible in the Preston game. I don't want him turning into Leroy Fer
