Live(ish) panorama-foto from the Piazza il campo in Siena. Hard to believe they race horses round here, can't be more than 2 furlongs around. Makes Chester look like Aintree.

My mate has two horses running tomorrow. I posted one of his on here a few weeks ago that won, Yulong Xiongba that one was called, that one won't be running for another few weeks but since that turned out quite well I thought I'd post these two and what he's told me about them

2:30 musselburgh - Rainbow Rebel 2/1. Won last week at Carlisle and been turned out quite quickly with a 6lb penalty. They didn't actually expect it to win last week, they thought it might need the run just back from a break, hence I had absolutely nothing on it! The thinking is that it should really be winning this race and will probably go off as heavy favourite.

8:10 kempton - Rock Steady 5/1. Very consistent horse that has been going up the weights after some good runs at Windsor recently. Small field tomorrow but very competitive race and any of the 6 could win it. Was a staying on 2nd last time out so they have went up an extra furlong. Roger Charlton thinks there may not be much room to work with off the current mark but it is an improving horse so they are hopeful rather than expectant with this one. Been advised to bet this e/w.

And congrats to Bob and his good lady on their news <ok>

Rainbow Rebel won as was expected, the odds ended up 8/11 so hopefully if anyone had a bet on it they managed to get something a bit better than that!

Rock Steady was pulled out of his race earlier today due to an infection, hopefully nothing too bad but don't know any details yet.

He's in one of those big racing syndicates then where you own a very small percentage of the horse along with a few hundred others. I know one who was involved with Baghad Bihoue in the same colours-he's just won his two novice hurdles.

Good bit of fun to be had as they got a visit to Paul Nicholls stable and a few owners passes at the races!

Yeah that's the one, he's part of a syndicate for 3 different horses with that same ownership, he got owners passes for Musselburgh today but sadly I couldn't make it. Good job he didn't head down to Kempton! Plus he's involved with some other different ones as well at a bit higher stakes I think.

He had some success with one a few years ago, part owned one called Wee Frankie through Lamont Racing with about 6 other people including the trainer Keith Dalgleish. Won its first few races and they ended up getting a good offer from Australian based OTI Racing. Think OTI have a few horses in Britain and Europe but that one headed over to Australia to carry on.

Good stuff Fabio. Nice bit of information. Saw the race and Mulrennan tried his best to upset the plan but Joe was cool enough and the horse showed a willing attitude. Hope you made a good weeks wage <ok>

whats the cost of this style of "horse ownership"? I love the game and a punt but I am purely small time (double figure total stake on a weekly basis) but multiply that by 52 weeks and through in a (good) few others and Id be up for the banter!!!

The big syndicate ones that he's involved in, I'm sure he paid something like £250 per horse but it all depends on how many shares you want to own. I dont know exact figures but for example 1 share could cost lets say £50, so that would mean my mate has 5 shares in each horse for his £250(£750 total for his 3 horses). No idea what exactly that gets him though. Like I say just an example on figures but It means you could pay something as little £50 for the experience of owning a horse for a year

Fabulous Fabio <laugh> Id love to be in the owners enclosure and for £600/year thats awesome!
Sometimes you dont know so you dont ask!!!!

Anyhow as I told the Mrs its only £3500 for my run on the Great Wall of China, oh and the flights, training gear, training stuff etc etc

so its the West Highland Way AGAIN for me!!!!!

For £50 you would own 0.033% of Bagad Bihoue until May 2017
If fully subscribed that equates to £144,000 to buy and keep a novice hurdler in training with Paul Nicholls for a year.

Lads, after the pretty naff week my mrs and i had the other week (thanks again for the universal lovely comments from you all) i have to report some rather magnificent news.

My wife is pregnant with our first child and we are over the moon about it. :emoticon-0165-muscl
