So what? Past his sell by date, living on past glory, well rid. If he doesnt want to play, and it's all about money and contracts.....bye bye me old son, you were a good act, but you stayed too long.

Oh you actually want a serious debate?

    "past his sell by date"

He has been probably one of our best players in the last ten games and has been consistently putting in good performances.

Fantastic servant to the club but I don't honestly think we'll miss him. I kind of agree with FBTW but it could have been put better!

I can only think Brownie is offering him a lengthy contract like he did when he was here, Ash is getting on and he's gonna struggle to get many more years if Preston have come in and offered him a 2 or 3 year deal he would be a fool not to take it in my opinion. I can't imagine him getting more then a year extension with us.

Best of luck to the bloke, he has been a brilliant servant for the club, shame he wont reach his testimonial

One of City's finest warriors in recent past - hope things work out fine for him, we wouldnt have had the journey we have had in the PL without him. Cheers Ash

Maybe Ashes transfer request was a bid to engineer a new contract since one had not been forthcoming. A lot of people use this tactic when trying to sort out wage rises etc.

It's a shame he'll miss out on the testamonial. If anyone deserves it then Ash is your man. Thanks for 9 years of giving 100% and good luck.

player wants to leave ergo player leaves, no matter how important.

he'll be missed but its better to bow out now and make a fool of himself with PB for a year or two.

if (heaven forbid) he plays in league 1 next year, would that be some sort of record?

    hello, btw.

I don't know, but presumably he's going there and will become captain. If it's a 2 1/2 year deal it could see him captain us in all 4 divisions and then captain Preston in the bottom 3 divisions because I imagine they'll have financial problems if they go down. That would give him a promotion and a relegation season as club captain in each of the top 3 divisions, a promotion from the 4th and the last year of his contract in that division as well.

We are all wondering why he's put a request in . Its been detailed a few reasons but no body is certain as to why.The only certainty is he has been a legend for Hull City football club and could be a long time before we have someone who has done alot for the club. Not only i doubt he has amassed a fortune as like some other players have done.

It is obvious really though ian't it. NP/AP were not going to offer Ash another contract in the summer when his current one runs out and Phil Brown has probably offered him a decent wage over two years. Ash has been a wonderful servant to iur club and I wish him all the best and thank him for what he has done for us, But he still needs to consider his own future, baring in mind his bad injury record. I will look forward to when Preston come to the KC so we can all give him the send off he desevres!
