I find it quite weird that we are being linked with wingers, even though Puel doesn't use wingers in his diamond system.

Well he technically does in Redmond...he played wide a lot in the second half at OT and against Watford. Puel hasn't stuck to one formation in his career either, so gives flexibility too.

So could be:
Out:
Fonte to Utd.
Jay to WBA/Hull

In:
Am/w
Cb or two: (if Fonte goes)
For: ( if Jay goes)

Going to be a busy.

Telegraph are usually pretty good with their Saints rumours, so would appear to be a possibility of Jay Rod going on loan. Really can't see us selling him though?
Someone on SW (another ITK?) is then suggesting that Ings is a possible signing ?

I've been surprised all summer not to see Ings seemingly getting any links away in the media. Surely, even with Benteke gone, he's hardly going to get a look in at Liverpool? They've not even got European football to rotate the squad. And then there's the fact that, presumably like Jay, Ings could do with getting first team football under his belt following his serious injury. WBA, Sunderland, Stoke, Hull, West Ham and one or two others, including us, could do with another striker.

I can't comment on whether I'd be interested in Ings, because I don't know if his injury has had any lasting damage. If he looks half the player than he was previously, then I don't see any logic in loaning Jay out and loaning Ings in. We'd be in the same boat as we are now. But if he's fully recovered, and is simply just short of first team football, then I'd be open to him joining. But even then, I'm not sure he's as good as what we need.

So we get a player returning from a long term injury (Ings) to replace another returning from a long term injury. Sounds like something we might do

Think he's been told by Klopp that he will only play for Liverpool U23's this season? I maybe wrong?
But I agree with Beefy, I think and hope that it will be a busy 10-11 days.

I can't see Saints making a further 3 signings,I certainly see Fonte going and who can blame him,if we don't replace him with quality and rely on Yoshida as cover it could be a long season,as for loaning Jay out for me that doesn't make any sense, play the bloke you never know we might even score a goal,we are painfully short upfront.Letting Pelle and Mane go and playing Redmond upfront alone could be our downfall.

We are after 2 or 3 even if Fonte stays, so I can see it.

Beefy,do you have an idea whether their English or coming from abroad?
I think we will miss Mane if we don't buy wisely.
I know prices don't reflect quality in a lot of cases but we need to part with a few good bob to keep progressing.

Not really. We need to sign good players to keep progressing, regardless of cost.
