Because we live in a world where Watford can turn down £25m for Deeney and Jordan Ibe goes for £15m. Lukaku probably isn't quite good enough for a team aspiring to win the league, though I don't think Costa is either, but Tobes' point is a hard one to dispute. How many other strikers can say at 23 they have a few seasons under their belt in this league scoring decent numbers each season?

Any club can turn down what they want but Everton like Spurs are feeder clubs and usually sell to the highest bidder. As for Costa's 20 league goals And a premiership winners medal 2014 not being good enough is quite funny really. Tobes has a point in saying he's only 23 but only the future can prove me wrong and I've seen enough of lukaku to see he doesn't cut the ice at top level.

Reactions: Blueman
His first season with us, he almost got a goal per game!
Last season ****ed his record up slightly because he downed tools.
This season, although only 2 games in, he has a goal per game.

Other than his discipline problems, there isn't much to not rate about him to be honest.
Just wish he wasn't slightly psychotic <laugh>
Only incompetent refereeing allowed him to be on the pitch for both goals.

So both refs are wrong? Seems hard to believe. We bought lukaku for about £12m I think. We were laughing when we sold him. Hence why I think he's only worth £15m. Your value isn't based on what you were last sold for

You're completely clueless if you think he's only worth £15m in today's market, simple as that

He's not going anywhere as he's withdrawn his request and told Koeman he wants to stay, so it's moot anyway.

What, you mean he got carded for breaking a rule that every player at every has been warned about, shocking <yikes>
we have not seen total of 2 Yellow cards for Dissent for other players in all other matches put together, but Costa has 2 in 2.

Reputation takes over unfortunately.

Oh yes we have, and another was given out a few mins ago in the WestHam game too :emoticon-0100-smile

Even if it was true that he was being singled out due to his reputation, which other players' bookings (not just PL either) show isn't the case, it's hardly an unjustified reputation. He could quite easily have been sent off in both games so far.

thing is both his first yellows are too soft. He wasn't cursing or arguing - just discussing with ref.
Both his second yellow calls are marginable not stonewall.

BTW - Arter got 2nd yellow today for a stonewall pull during a West ham counter.
His first yellow - he was clapping & taunting the linesman.

Are we clear yet??

Not really, no. I've no idea how you can know he was just "discussing" the two referees' decisions for a start. You really won't see a more stonewall yellow card than what he got away with against Wham IMO, though that's been discussed to death, and he got away with a pretty standard dive in that one too. Not seen yesterday's but Bod is usually fairer than most and he said he got away with one.

I'm not sure how Arter being sent off for two yellow-worthy infringements justifies anything.

2 yellow cards should be stonewall, especially the 2nd one.
Dives are rarely given even for 1st yellow <ok>. Ask Rooney in their last game.

I gave Arter's example because both his yellow cards were stonewall.

Indeed, the tackle on Adrian was wasn't malicious imo, he attempted to win the ball because the keeper was dilly dallying, and the keeper adjusted the position of the ball to avoid the tackle and put his leg in the line of fire.
I've seen many a yellow given for it, but it would have been harsh imo.

The dive, there is no defense for that. Blatant dive, 0 contact.

I am not saying Costa didn't dive.
Few of the blatant dives rarely get Yellow cards even now.
