From where I was sat in lower Lansdown stand there appeared to be a lot of empty seats in the South Stand.
It did not feel like a big crowd today. How populated was the top tier of Lansdown stand, as you cannot see from the lower tier?

22500 in the ground, personally I would be disappointed with that at club level.
I cannot believe we did not sell out, what with a ex prem side in town, new lansdown stand fully opened,Gota say that was poor today.

There were restrictions in place so perhaps 22500 was the max set by health and safety people.
    Atmosphere was pretty poor overall.

23000 capacity today for safety reasons. But a big majority of that would be on season ticket holders. So basically 500 season ticket holders did not turn up.

The school holidays are now in full swing plus we sold pretty much every seat we could, the Lansdown is very much a work in progress, there is still an AWFUL lot left to do...

It was hard to tell what the atmosphere was like from the clouds. I would say though that we were timid, tentative and lacking inspiration on the pitch so there wasn't a great deal to shout about today. We need to be going at the opposition and it will be good..

Health & Safety restrictions and school holidays as has been said, and still 22,300? Pretty good if you ask me given West Brom vs Everton was only 800 more than that.

You want atmosphere along with it? Well you need to play a system that is at least consistent each week and I honestly haven't seen that since we've been back in the Championship.

Interesting quote from Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez: "It's great to have a team who can go forward and score goals but you also need organisation and team spirit to get results.

"I expected a difficult game because what I knew of Bristol City and their manager is they know what they are doing and can change systems during a match. I expect them to do well this season."

Thought our 'announcer' was embarrassing making a big play about our best crowd for 20 odd years. Wtf did the Newcastle fans make of that.

Agreed lets get somebody miserable in. Was embarrassing yapping on about the attendance.
Bring back the Rockin Robins dance troupe (fit birds only) at half time, thats all that is needed to improve
    my matchday experience.

Right? I'm curious as to what your point is?

Do you genuinely believe Benitez knows anything about Lee Johnson or Bristol City really? Even if he did, he is a has been manager who can only achieve mediocrity with fortunes to spend, I have zero respect for him.

I honestly have no idea what LJ's style or Plan A is to be honest and you can call it revolutionary having plans up to K that you can change to within a game like he did at Wycombe but we live in a time where no manager or group of players are around long enough to learn how to all get on the same page after 5 formation changes in a game.

Rarely, if ever, do managers say anything detrimental about a fellow manager.
They're in a precarious profession and don't they know it, it's you scratch mine and I'll scratch yours.
It's a joke that Benitez knows anything about Junior including his record at Oldham and Barnsley.
However I do think Junior has a plan :
Buy good players and then he won't need to give instructions. It's beyond belief that he could tell O'Neil or Tomlin anything at all.
All we've seen so far is Junior carrying on where Pembo left off and given financial backing from the only man who would employ him at Championship level.
If Lansdown's decision to employ Junior is successful we must congratulate him and forever grateful to be watching Premiership football at A G.

Can think of something for Tomlin dropping into midfield and turning four and five into six is not finding space.
