Didn't realise that Jedinak had gone to Villa along with Chezza.

Those 2 would have done for starters.

Add a couple of loans and we'd have been in a lot better shape.

* Anyone else think there was a possibility that the club simply did not want to give Bruce any financial help whatsoever regarding new players and in not doing so forced the ex managers hand?

* ignore if already discussed btw

That's what seemed to happened with Barmby so you could argue precedent but in this case it seems that the Allams were unwilling to provide a transfer budget as there was a serious bidder at the table

I must admit a lot of managers do seem to waste a lot of money.
If I owned a football club I would make sure there was a scouting system that had input from a lot of people before letting the manager make the final decision.

So why did Bruce do one then if that serious bid I keep hearing about was common knowledge at the time? He said in the press, or words to effect it was in the best interest of the club...don't get it?

So you'd set up a committee like Liverpool did & it seemed to fail?

The unknown? he'd been working wonders on the diplomatic front with the Allams but probably being told there's no money from us plus the fact Bruce's position would be up in the air when the new owners came in meant he couldn't risk his reputation as a manager. He'd proabaly also feel it was back to square one

I'd have people doing different things at different times. I would also have meetings of the important people. Just because Liverpool failed it could be because of the people not the process.

True, but ultimately the manager should have the final say in the matter, which I believe was the problem with Liverpool!
