Penalty shootouts are in the rules....no good complaining when you lose. Happened to us enough in football. Anyway the Netherlands had periods of dominance, but our defence stood firm....and defence is also part of the game. Understand the Dutch being disappointed as they played well, but that's how the cookie crumbles.

Incidentally, the Beeb have played the video of all the hand-overs and nobody can spot an infringement. Must admit I can't even speculate why they'd be disqualified unless there is something the camera has missed. Personally, I think an official has seen something the camera missed or imagined something happened that didn't.
 
Looks like our relay team were DQ'd by a judge with no camera view that we can use to refute it. It was a minor infraction of foot placement rather than a faulty baton change. USA look like they have been in the same way. May be right...but not good enough that it isn't covered by the camera if they are going to be that fussy.

And due to that disqualification, Brazil qualified for the final.... <whistle>
 
In the Men's 4*100 the disaster zone that is Team GB managed something unique. They managed to be placed unlike the USA quartet of Mike Rodgers, the Great One, Tyson Gay and Trayvon Bromell. Rodgers is the ultimate disaster zone as he has constantly fouled up for the best part of a decade? Even if they were celebrating bronze, the US men should be hanging their head in shame to come behind Japan.

Well done to the US 4*100 ladies. At least they showed how to do it!!
 
Nailed on medals and some excellent chances for medals today. Who would have thought that our medal haul would rival 2012 and that most of our gold medallists would retain their titles. We won medals across 18 disciplines....no other country could rival that.

So today: boxing (2 medals guaranteed), 5000 m (Mobot), diving (Tom Daley on fire), taekwondo (2 chances) and womens triathlon* (apparently 3 medal contenders in here).

*So good in triathlon that we had to leave the world number 3 behind.
 
Nailed on gold for the following

5000m for Mo Farah - GB
4*400m for men and women - USA
1500m for men (fingers crossed a gold for Kenya)
800m - probably South Africa's Semanya

Men's Javelin - Someone from Germany or one of the Eastern European countries.

Marathon - top six should be from Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia!!!
