Listening to Darren Campbell on Radio 5 live today. He said the Athletics target was 7 to 9 medals which they might only meet with relay success (which he considered a fun thing) and that the BAA was in total disarray with little or no infrastructure while all other sports had grasped the nettle and made huge strides. His fear was that potential British athletes would be lost to other sports (as with the Heptathlon girl who won a medal cycling) and that interest in athletics was so low - he said who wants to sit there in an athletics stadium for 4 hours 5 hours when theres nothing happening while other sports were all action. He went on to say that when Aviva stopped being Athletics sponsor was when it all went tits up...

Boxing hasn't made strides. Most of them for GB lost their first fight. I don't know what was happening with the build up but it's been a real struggle for our boxers it seems.

When Australia performed poorly in London, they had. A huge investigation into what went wrong.

True that, but I don't know what the expectation was Cortez. Still an amazing games though with potentially more still to come.

Theres a lot of nations doubting us.
Well **** them if they want to compete fund it with their lottery.

I think it's also to do with the doping scandal that has rocked athletics and put people off / driven them to other sports - if you know you want to race clean what's the point if you can guarantee you're going to be up against dopers? Was reading something about how amateur running and mass participation events have never been more popular but professional athletics is in disarray. Because of the time it's on I've probably watched less athletics than most other sports this olympics and hardly missed it.

Lutalo Muhammad has guaranteed himself a Silver or Gold medal in the Men's Taekwondo for GB, he is through to the final.

Bloody close though.
What happened to the British guy who went to fight for Moldova Quill... the one who kicked off for non selection in London..?
