So the yanks are coming

The Swans are set to be watched this weekend by Stephen Kaplan and Jason Levien, who are due to attend having become majority shareholders in the club last month.

"The club has a very good track record in the past decade of finding players and we want to maintain that process and figure out ways of enhancing it," he says. "Analytics is a part of that, increasing the scouting network and looking in new areas for players."

That's the bit I like!............<ok>

Not one penny spent so far and a good return on those who've left , atm it would appear we're not really building for the future are we .It's all well and good to extend popular ageing players contracts (that would be to appease the natives ) and not too expensive .But theres more talk about the stadium which is a fixed asset unlike new players who are not .They've not done anything so far which would allay my fears of it's all about the money .I hope I'm wrong and theres a week left of the transfer window but with Emnes playing last night for the U23's and scoring perhaps the squad will be what it is and he'll be back in the squad.

They are not going to spend any money beyond what was earmarked already, I don't think coming in and spending huge amounts without planning is wise, and they haven't promised this. Expectations of them to do this has been high amongst fans, what I don't get is why?

I am of the mind to see what happens next, and then decide what my thoughts on that is. I don't entirely trust then, but I do know that being in charge a month only is far to early to come to any kind of definitive decision on what they mean for us.

"Our message to fans is we are very focused on winning and continued success, and we think some of the players we've brought in during this transfer window are players who are going to help us on the pitch," Levien says.

I had a chuckle at this.

How can they be focusesd on winning and success when THEY haven't invested a penny into a weaker squad than last season?

THEY also, haven't signed anybody. The club signed the current players without ANY investment from them.

The priority for these Yanks is to just keep us in the league do that they can milk us for as much money as possible I'm afraid. I don't trust them and I echo Boundy's fears above.

You are not making sense, the club has brought in players since they took charge, so obviously they are going to say something about it. They were always going to use the framework that we had already in place. They actually never said they were going to invest additional funds or the amount if they were.

You are going on and on and on about spending money, well as they actually own most of the club now they have authorised the purchase of two players for over £20m , so I would say they have spent money! I realise that the club has sold players, but we've also retained the services of a lot of our first team on increased money.

The priority is to stay in the league obviously, saying they are going to milk the money out of the club, tell me what money is that? About 80% of our income goes on wages of the players and staff, they are hardly going to spend about £100m on a club to take out the less than £5m or so profit the club makes each year. You appear to think that we don't actually have expenditure only income from the tv rights etc. The yanks are not in it for the tv money as that pays only the expenses for the most part, they are in it for the commercial side of things, as we are really really crap on that, and they can see a profit. It's a shame you cannot

Prior to the takeover the Board was saying things along the lines

"But Jenkins and Co are adamant that there is a need for Swansea to bring in extra cash from somewhere if they are to continue competing in the Premier League while also spending significant sums on improving their facilities."

The "clear" impression is that the new owners were going to invest new/additional money into the Club/Company. I accept that the Americans didn't utter such things, but the given rationale for the transaction from the "old" Board was that additional investment into the Club was the raison d'être for seeking new majority shareholders.

Thus far, the outlay by the American led consortium has not put money into the Club's coffers - they have put money into the bank accounts of the shareholders who opted to sell.

The acquisition of the 2 Spaniards was financed from existing cash reserves/facililities. Whilst cash is a fungible asset, it can be "argued" that the proceeds from the sale of both Ash & Ayew funded the purchase of the Spaniards. <cheers>

Yes I understand now and I agree the commercial side of the Club is crap those shiny newish advertising hoarding in the ground which are designed to blind you and therefore you can't see whats happening on the pitch along with the new big screens with which you can't read the scoreline (handy when we're losing I suppose) are there purely for commercial reasons and not to enhance the match day experience .But hi ho as long as we sell more tat then alls well with the world .I've noticed the Club shop are now selling additional training kit which the Academy players have been issued with, a lovely puce yellow complimented by forest green ,nice <laugh>

Rubbish, they've said countless times they'll invest into the squad, stadium and training facilities etc so where is their money to improve the squad?

Still not their money.

We have sold

Jonjo £12m - also saved at least £55k a week
Ayew - £20.5m - saved around £80k a week
Ash - £12m - £50-£60k a week
Palo - £6m
Eder around £5m
Gomis - saved £60-£80k a week

Not to mention Barltey and Grimes going out on loan has probably saved £40k a week. In transfers alone, that gives us roughly £45m and we've spent roughly £27m on our summer signings leaving £13m left over from the sales alone. Along with the increased to money and other cash generated, why hasn't that been used to strengthen the team?

There should be at least another £25m available for new players and wages etc.
