A number of clubs in the PL would very happily welcome him. Newcastle would have stayed up if he'd been appointed earlier. It's unbelievable that a Champions League-winning manager is seen as a terrible appointment for a Championship club.

All he'd need to do is talk about the games where he stood on the Gallowgate End and watched SuperMac or whoever and they'll be eating out the palm of his hands. They love 'one of their own' more than most and it supersedes almost anything else.

Considering the newcastle fans wrote an open letter begging Rafa to stay with them this season, it will be interesting to see how long they give him if results don't come good. However I think they will go up if he is given time. I agree his career has gone off the boil, but I'm sure he can get a well financed team out of the championship (the right end, before anyone is tempted).
