Don't think they deserved a draw from these highlights. http://www.skysports.com/watch/vide...hampionship/10539831/norwich-1-0-bristol-city
How can he say they deserved a draw - we had the majority of shots on goal and on target, as well as hitting the post twice!!!!
"I thought the lads were excellent. If we had scored late on it certainly wouldn't have been a smash-and-grab raid. We weren't too far away from getting a comfortable draw. "It is sometimes easy to forget what a young group we have got here and for large chunks of the game we matched a really top side. We won our first two games - but this is the best football we have played so far." Sounds like they were very unlucky to me!!
I'm a big advocate of Josh Murphy but I thought he looked a bit lost last night. He was too easily shrugged off the ball and not a lot came off for him at all. I would have preferred to have seen him on the left for a bit as that is his naturally favoured side. Naismith was awful, after reading some of the comments about Saturdays game where a few said he gave the ball away everytime he got it I thought they may be exaggerating, but it seemed they were true. Every time he got the ball he either took a heavy touch, ran in to trouble or made a woeful pass, handing possession over far too easily. Jerome, although he looked industrious and worked hard for the team, he looks absolutely toothless at the moment. He seemed to put more effort into sprinting back to make a slide tackle midway in our own half, than chasing down a ball over the top to go through on goal. Klose and Bennett are looking like a really solid defensive partnership that we have been lacking for years now. Pinto and Brady were great in their defensive play and brilliant getting forward and providing width. Howson and Tettey were solid and dependable as usual, Hoolahan dropping deep helped run and control the game. Canos looked highly energetic, skilful and strong when he came on. I was very impressed with him and would look for him to start on Sunday. He carried the ball well, beat players, moved into good areas and importantly tracked back well and was strong in the tackle. I'm really not a fan of playing Naismith and Hoolahan at the same time, Hoolahan should be in behind the striker and its his natural instinct to drift that way which causes us to lose width.
The only threat they had was the ball over the top, which they kept attempting to play and Klose and Bennett coped well with.
Excellent summary of last night's game Suffolk, especially the comments re Josh and Naismith and I'd like to see both relegated to the bench at least for Sunday (injuries permitting!!). I also thought of defence is beginning to look more solid than it has for ages, especially against quite a potent strike force - long may it continue I'm hoping both Pritchard and Jacob may be fit to start against 1p5wich!!
Can't see Pritchard being given a debut coming back from injury in an Old Farm game. Maybe Canos will get the nod over both Murphys or if MO is fit maybe Brady will move up to midfield but I don't see AN dropping Naismith or resting Wes at the Portaloo.
Think the only change might be Canos for Josh. Wes knows what derby games are all about so he is bound to play. Hope Pritchard can at least get on the bench.... we need an alternative to Naismith.
I'd like to see something like: McGovern Pinto, Bennet, Klose, Brady Tetty, Howson Canos, Hoolahan, Pritchard Jerome
I'd like to see something like: McGovern Pinto, Bennet, Klose, olsson(Brady if still injured) Tetty, Howson Canos, Hoolahan, Brady (Jacob if MO injured)(Naismith if Jacob & MO still injured) A new fricking STRIKER! Bah!
If Naismith scores a winner/hatrick at the portaloo, does he achieve the NCFC legend/great tag in one fell swoop? And then could we get rid b4 6 years? Bah!
Having listened to the first half of the game, and Watching a couple of "Match Day Experience" videos. Was the atmosphere as flat as it sounded for Bristol? Watching the Sheffield game on Sky, you didn't often hear the crowd getting lively either. Was that the case? Also, only just seen, the new screen turns!? Apparently the first screen in England that turns, or Europe, I can't remember what he said...Not sure if it's true, but a nice little quirk if true. Plus looks pretty cool!
Yes, the crowd was fairly subdued for most of the game. You're right, it is the first turning big screen in Europe and you can read the fans views here -http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/the_big_screen_is_ncfc_s_best_signing_of_the_summer_fans_react_to_norwich_city_s_new_rotating_screen_1_4660393
Just seen extended highlights of the goal. That was fantastic build up and goal. We played good football by the looks of the highlights. The Radio Norfolk Commentary said Bristol were unlucky and Sky Sports News said we were lucky to lead at HT. The Extended highlights look like we could have won 2/3-0 and we played the ball around really nicely.
I can't believe how Edgy, Shy, and nervous Howson was in his interview after the game!! He's so assured on the pitch, and he was Captain for the game. He came across as a kid making his debut. His eyes, the faces he pulled, all the "Erms" he even had a wobbly voice at times. He comes across as a really nice shy boy. Which based on how he plays, is very surprising. Reminds me a bit of Beckham in his earlier days of England Captaincy. Same unassured wobble in his voice.
The best thing about the rotating screen is that when we score against Ipswich at home we can just point the screen to the away end and just keep replaying the goal.
