Pep seems to be getting the best out of Sterling so far, 1.5 games, 3 assists (should be 4 but Aguero cant take penalty's) also the best player on the pitch by a distance this game.

We should get £30m for Benteke but that's only because of the crazy TV deal this season which means clubs are paying inflated prices.

Take that inflation away and we probably would have settled for £23m.

Sterling is a talented player - always was - just a shame that fans and the media want to put him down. And we wonder why we produce a nation of bottlers.

What a sweet, simple world you live in. :)
Not particularly sweet or simple, you have £32m to spend on a striker with the whole of Europe to shop in, would your first stop be for a man who is behind a raw kid, a converted midfielder, a crock and as yet untested striker or would you look for someone who is a current starter and actually valued by his team?

I know what you mean Diego. We aren't really in a position to demand a high fee as he isn't really of any use to us. However he is a proven goal scorer in the league and I am sure if he were to go to a Palace or a West Ham, he would score a lot for them.

I think todays rejected bid was more of an issue with the £7m add-ons, which appear to have had some impossible clauses and would never see the money paid.

Thank you, somebody who actually gets it <ok> :emoticon-0100-smile

Not so sweet, but definitely simple.
Or rather, simplistic. The fact that he doesn't fit into our team is not the sole criterion for judging his value. If he makes all the difference to another team then he could be invaluable to them, so it depends on whether or not they think he is worth it, and matters not whether you or I agree.

Yes, but the fact that he doesn't fit your team and you are stuck paying his wages means others will be less inclined to take him off your hands for top dollar. Are you expecting £16m back for Ballo? he doesn't fit your team either.

There are two ways of looking at it; buying and selling side.

The buying club should be looking at his exclusion and they know he's not wanted. From our point of view we don't need to sell but would prefer to. There will eventually be middle ground where two clubs meet and Benteskey will ****off.

IMO we won't sell for less than £30m because we're trying to rid the pushovers (in the transfer market) tag and make a statement; we won't be pushed around.

I reckon we'd take £8m for Balotelli but then, that's a completely different story.

Why is it a completely different story?
You are paying wages to two players and getting no use out of them at all, if they are both content to sit and run out their contracts you will end up with nothing. Ballo you will all cheer about, Benteke will get slated for running his contract down.
