Bought Kevin Wimmer last season. Blooded CCV this pre-season against 3 UEFA pedigree teams. Dier a fair "last resort" option if a CB biblical plague occurs. The difference between Pochettino and Wenger is clear to see.
3-4. Again Arsenal's jinx of only winning one of their last 7 opening matches rears its head but they always get the CL regardless so not too much can be gained from that. Liverpool concede 3, too many but scored 4 as they did in pre season. Unpredictable season ahead for Liverpool.
Could be worse: my sister posted photos of my nice in a baby Gooner shirt on Facebook today. I had to call the NSPCC.
Spurs play Liverpool in two matches time..................... confident? I'm not unless Spurs thrash Palace about 4 or 5 nil.
I think many wide players will try to isolate him one on one in the box, if possible. Try and draw the tackle and hit the deck!...
They look good going forward, and Coutinho is something special on that form. But their defence is crap!...
I can see Liverpool being in the mix this season. Any team which comes flying out of the traps on day one should be treated with caution and respect. Klopp seems to have given them energy and fluency in their play. As a Spurs fan, I am confident we have enough to succeed over Liverpool, but if I was a neutral football fan, then I would be quite entertained by the way Klopp has them playing.
Arsenal always give you the space to play, don't they? I think Pool will find others aren't quite so generous with that space.
I don't do the anti Liverpool on this site. I repeat, I think they will definitely be a force this season.
Liverpool had a few results like this away from home last season (the win at City being the most memorable), but at other times their defence capitulated (Southampton, Swansea for example) - and it was only January when they drew 3-3 with today's opponents at home. Nobody should draw conclusions after one game, but if you were going to do so, you'd say it was business as usual. A threat going forward, especially away from home, but can't defend.
I thought the way Klopp set you up was quite interesting. Mane, Firmino and Coutinho more or less drifted freely across the forward channels and that makeshift, ad lib Arsenal back line really struggled to keep track of them. I'm actually thinking that the 'false 9' approach is probably better than using Sturridge as the focal point as he is far less mobile, far more predictable and doesn't cover as much ground as any of those three, as good a finisher as he may be. I think you've got enough threat going forward now to cause anyone trouble. I'm sincerely hoping our back 6 is up to scratch by the time we play you as we are probably one of the few defenses in the league who will do a decent job at containing you. We'll also rely heavily on Rose and Walker having excellent games as from what I saw today, you are seriously poor defensively down the flanks. Best of luck this season. My hatred of Chelsea combined with Mourinho's return plus West Ham sponging off taxpayer money and of course Arsenal's very existence means that I am all lambs and roses towards Liverpool this season. Unless you beat us of course
I agree. They are not far off of the Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling trio of a few seasons back. Plus, they have no European distractions. A part of me wishes we went in for Mane. We don't often enough look like demolishing teams, when he's on fire he's lethal. Our front four often look highly calculated, almost too careful, in comparison.
The comparison with our 13-14 team seems very apt as like then the question appears to be can the attack score enough to make up for the obvious defensive deficiencies. Think for neutrals we should be an entertaining watch but it will probably shred our nerves you may see effigys of Moreno hanging from lamposts if we don't get off our arses and sign a LB that A) Has a brain B) Can defend You got one of those going spare by any chance ?
