You have to wonder with the beach volleyball which competitors were the ones being forced to conform to other people's expectations. The woman in the hijab or the elite female athletes performing in bikinis (compulsory until recently).

I can understand why a man would want a woman to uncover herself, particularly if she has a cracking arse. I can't understand why a man would want a woman to cover herself up......unless of course, he's an insecure type following some whacko religious text which treats women like fourth- rate citizens.

But that was my point. What has it got to do with what a man would want?

Wearing skimpy gear might be the beach volleyball player's own choice, I don't know. I bet wearing a Muslim woman doesn't have much of a say in how she looks.

You could be right. Or she may believe in it herself. Personally, I can't stand any religion, but if other people do believe then that is up to them and I'm glad it doesn't affect their ability to compete. The one thing that annoys me most is when you get athletes kneeling down and praying after winning, thanking God for their win, as if any god who did exist would care who won.

Correct, thanking god (and the latest is Neymar to wear a Jesus loves you t-shirt) is bollocks.

We should be happy that those women beach volleyball players are slim and sexy, imagine if they were 20 stone monsters? <laugh>

I know it's not the most exciting sport, but these dressage commentators are really harsh. They are trying their best. No need to keep saying so many of the riders are on a mare!

Wow true. Imagine if the Cold War still existed and Helga and Zelma from East Germany were competing against Ludmila and Anna from the Soviet Union in the beach volleyball competition.

Two more golds, one in the gymnastics and Justin Rose in the golf.....inspiring stuff, the reaction from Rose when he sank the winning put was great. Shame Rory McIlroy couldn't make it......not.

The bloke (who is English by the way) who does the announcing in the medal ceremonies is getting right on my tits now. "Olympic Champion-uh, in the mens sprint-uh, from Great Britain-uh". <doh>
