Never going to happen. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...cios-16million-double-deal-article780235.html Stoke are plotting an ambitious £16 million double deal for Tottenham duo Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios. Potters boss Tony Pulis wants the giant but gifted Spurs star and is set to pay around £8 million for him and find a way of paying him the sky-high wages that he earns at White Hart Lane. Pulis also wants powerful Honduran midfielder Palacios but will need the Spurs midfielder to take a whopping pay cut. Stoke boss Pulis has earmarked Palacios as a top transfer target this summer and made an enquiry to Spurs about the Honduras internationalâs availability. Potters chairman Peter Coates is prepared to smash the club transfer record to land the former Wigan star but the deal is running into problems over wages. Palacios earns around £60,000 a week at White Hart Lane and has three years left on the bumper contract he signed in 2009 while Stoke want the 27-year-old to accept £40,000 a week.
Ryan won't be used but I won't be surprised if Harry refuses to do the deal otherwise as he's been after Ryan since he was Pompey manager.
So basically we're trying to get Palacios to take a £20k a week wage cut. I guess this is where we offer a big signing on fee to make up for the loss of wages.
Spot on Sgt And, I hope that Ryan stays with us. Can't see this coming off but as Nick say's Arry and Tone are a little too chummy and I don't like the idea of a swap/exchange cos as good as Woodgate can be. He's not Pulis fit and I doubt he ever will be.
Cant see it myself, although those type of sigings would be moving the type of players we have in the right direction!
Potts, never mind Pulis fit, Woodgate just isn't fit, full stop. When he WAS fit he was the BEST footballing centre half in Europe, even Real thoight so! If he was anywhere NEAR fit, does anybody think that 'Arry would agree to release him!! Spurs have serious problems in that position, King is good for a max 20 games a season, Dawson seems to be going backwards. Oh I don't know, roll on the end of this Transfer Window and let's just aboloish the bloody thing!!
Sgt Are you sure he was? Offered a new deal. I thought it was same as we've offered. Basically Spurs would pay Woodgate. If, and only if and when he played for them. Which if you look at it that way. He didn't have a chance in hell because both Dawson and Ledley King were higher in the pecking order. Might be wrong Sgt but, I read all of Woodgate's comments re Sentinel the other weekend. He said, Stoke offered me the chance too get fit, and play so I've taken that chance.
