I'm pretty sure everyone even Whyte himself knew DU were looking for £2m but Rangers were trying to get him for cheaper, possibly relying on the fact that the player would want to push the deal through himself.
I think most Rangers fans wanted him to spend £2m, some didn't. Again I think Whyte would know a little bit more than you about conducting 7 figure business deals than yourself. Like I said, he was most likely trying to force through a deal and get the player cheaper than what DU wanted for him. Thats the whole part of the transfer market, you negoitiate.
