according to the bbc Queens Park Rangers won 4-2 on penalties to overcome League One side Swindon Town and avoid a shock EFL Cup first-round defeat at Loftus Road. im in shock we have won a cup game
Thanks for doing the thread SB. I haven't had the time today, just got in to find the result this second. Happy days, we're going places now. I'll get the Cardiff thread up tomorrow
Thanks for the highlights R4E. That was some night. Our goal shy striker finally nets in a competitive game. Our debutant scores on his debut and we win a penalty shoot out to win a cup tie. Nurse, nurse..................am I dreaming?
Just found it on YouTube... Quality. Both their goals were good strikes, liked the movement and set up for ours... BFG run and cross, and cherry turn for 2nd goal.. Very good
Rochdale eh? Looks like we're in the trickiest side of the draw, but never mind, we've a few more plucky performances up our sleeves somewhere, bloodied but unbowed we will face that Everest etc etc
Very happy that both our debutante and Conner scored. Polter Bolter was in his face after he scored so don't know what that was about. Thought he ws going to strangle him. We won, that's all that matters.
Actually that was the best bit for me. One striker mentoring another. Somewhat unusual mentoring techniques - grab your mentee's throat and slap him around the head - but the message was clear. "You're a striker, Pal, now get on score some more goals!". Brilliant. Their first was set up from a lucky deflection but their second was quality. A most unusual sensation this morning!! Well done JFH.
Rochdale won't be easy, Keith Hill's teams always play a good passing game and they've nothing to lose...
having watched the game,i feel that we are in that rodney marsh type mode again because although the bfg dosnt have rodneys skill we play so much beter as a team when hes playing ,as soon as he came on the pitch we became a better side,he has this way of making space he seems to back into players, creating opurtunities if he could get 15 goals this season with goals from chery, nasser and yeni this could be enough I TRULLY THINK WE COULD TAKE AN AUTOMATIC AS ,LONG AS WE BELIEVE
We were a totally different team when Polter and Chery came on. Washington can't play up front on his own. He was chasing shadows all night long and was never at the pitch of the ball. Our midfield duo of Henry and Cousins offered very little and did not protect the back four. Swindon cut through us far too easily. I really liked Ngbakoto. Looked very dangerous particularly in the first half, was full of running and worked hard. El Khayati has nice touches and could be a good player if we could get him into games more.
Wait until we play one of the teams expected to be competing for the top spots, before making any grand predictions. There are better teams with bigger squads than us. If either Chery or BFG get injured, our potential would be greatly reduced.
