Well, Paul Pogba signs for United for an insane 105M + 5M add-ons. At least now it wont be in the gossip section every single day for 3 months.

I doubt this lad will be any trouble in the dressing room.

Insane amount of money to spend on one player and I expect he'll be in for some rough treatment from opposition defenders. I dread to think how much ManUre have spent on assembling their team and I REALLY hope that they don't end up winning the title or the Champion's League!!!!!

Edit - I expect enough of their 'plastic' fans will buy shirts to pay for Pogba's fee. <doh>

I didn't realise that prior to Pogba's record deal, the previous 5 record figures were all Madrid purchases :emoticon-0164-cash:<yikes>:emoticon-0164-cash:
    • 2013 - Gareth Bale £86m (Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid)
    • 2009 - Cristiano Ronaldo £80m (Manchester United to Real Madrid)
    • 2009 - Kaka £56m (AC Milan to Real Madrid)
    • 2001 - Zinedine Zidane £46m (Juventus to Real Madrid)
    • 2000 - Luis Figo £37m (Barcelona to Real Madrid)

Well you're safe with the latter competition, they aren't in the champion's league!

The irony being that Pogba was formerly a Man Ure player and they let him go for tuppence and have had to buy him back at the price of an island like Malta's GDP !!!

I'm not sure why everyone is in such a rush to get rid of Mulumbu? As a back up there aren't many better players that we could hope for. Obviously AN has seen enough in Thompson for him to fulfil that role this year.

And maybe not a total surprise, but Moyes maybe after Naismith. If we could turn a profit on him I guess we'd all be happy, we have plenty of other attacking options. If I'm honest though I would only really like to see him go if it is a very tidy profit as I think he could/will be very good for us in the champ and could be instrumental to an instant return to the PL.

    Bah!

According to wiki, he can play either at RB or CM. I wouldn't have thought either position was desperate for reinforcements? Unless there are players leaving NCFC not yet documented or even rumoured? :emoticon-0112-wonde
Different story if he was a CB or could play anywhere along the back line.

    Possibly, but slowly. Lol!!!

You would have seen him performing heroics for (dare I say it?) Iceland in the Euros. He was the heavily bearded midfielder whose role was to break up opposition attacks and launch long throws into the box. Not the quickest but physically strong and not afraid to get stuck in.

Despite the good work he did in the Euros he has not started as a first choice for us and didn't get off the bench on Saturday. As he is Iceland's captain I wouldn't blame him for wanting to be in the starting eleven. While we would be sorry to see him leave after 5 years, if the fee for him enables us to buy in a younger, more creative player (as rumoured) then so be it. That is football.

Perhaps Derby have a greater need than Norwich?

Didn't see the Naismith to Sunderland transfer coming, but if true apparently there is mention of a buy-out clause.
If he cost NCFC a reported £8.5m, do we presume that his transfer price will be in the region of £10-12m? Not sure about this rumour, but he wasn't any great shakes in the Prem and bearing in mind what Mr Moxey stated yesterday we could be saying bye-bye to Mr Naismith before 31st August. The sale of both Brady and Naismith could pay for 2 decent strikers as clearly we need to sell before we can buy - at least that's what I think Mr Moxey was implying yesterday?

Only reason we'd buy him I think is for that long throw, but we are hardly a side made to take advantage of it. I guess if we had him and sent the twin towers of Bennett and Klose up with Jerome it could pose problems for the oppo, but where to accomodate himin the team?

Is he any good at LB or in nets?

    Bah!

I guess what ever money we had or a large proportion of it to buy McCormack was spent on Pritchard, so we may need the Brady/Naismith money before signing a striker, but I still don't know if we can replace Naismith with better, that said I don't think we would try to replace him directly, with Hoolihan and Pritchard already here. All of that said, firstly I would have thought we were solvent enough to firstly to have funds to bring in at least one striker or at the very least be forward thinking enough to have some sort of overdraft facility to facilitate player purchases before the selling in order to strike proactively rather than reactively as the window closes.
A £10M overdraft for example would not look much of a risk to a bank given our current position and income streams and might give us desirable transfer market flexibility (We may well have this, or it may not be possible for reasons I am unaware of, but would seem a good idea to me!)

    Bah!
