I am amazed at the negativity. We have just signed a centre half because we need cover in that position. We know that sunderland are going to sign M'vila at some point and I would imagine that there will be one or two more through the door before the end of the window, another defender and forward as that's what we are desperately needing. Moyes knows who he wants and it looks like he is getting the support from Short. This signing just goes to show how secretive Sunderland are in the transfer dealings, no one will know until there is a done deal.
I'm amazed that you're amazed, apart from one window under Allardyce we've had so many duds that a healthy caution is completely understandable. It's hardly stretching credibility to consider that the new lad might have been signed as a replacement rather than an addition. We don't know that we're going to sign M'Vila, it looks like we will and we all want us to but there are no certainties.
t's hardly stretching credibility to consider that the new lad might have been signed as a replacement rather than an addition I was worried about this but I'm more settled now. I think he was bought because kirchoff is unreliable through injuries etc. He would also make good competition for the centre backs And we do need more cover in the positions mentioned
I think you're right and god knows it would make sense but I'm staying on the cautious side until the window has shut. Can't shake the feeling we're penny pinching although this signing suggests otherwise.
Sunderland and Newcastle vying for Man United deal: Defender wants permanent transfer NEWCASTLE and Sunderland are keen to sign Manchester United defender Paddy McNair, according to reports. By JOE SHORT 19:04, Fri, Aug 5, 2016 | UPDATED: 19:16, Fri, Aug 5, 2016 please log in to view this image GETTY Sunderland, Newcastle and Burnley all reportedly want to sign Paddy McNair McNair is tipped to leave United this summer as manager Jose Mourinho looks to trim down this squad. Scottish champions Celtic are said to be keen on landing the Northern Ireland international. But Sky Sports claim McNair may be moved to another English side instead. According to the report, Sunderland, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Burnley are all eyeing the centre-back.
Sunderland have been linked with Burnley's Andre Gray, although they would have to shell out £30million for the frontman. David Moyes has made no secret of Sunderland's need for a new striker, with Jermain Defoe currently the only orthodox central option available at his disposal. Gray netted 23 Championship goals during Burnley's promotion last season and reports today have indicated that he is a player that interests Moyes. However, Burnley have reportedly put a £30m price tag on Gray's head, which would almost certainly put him out of Sunderland's reach. I would rather bid 30m for Benteke. Gray is completely unproven in the premier league. Remember even Danny Graham looked good in the championship.

Certainly heading in the right direction. Might be rubbish of course. Our resident twitter savvy Bri is usually very good at spotting these dud accounts.
Seems to split lots of people saying the account is full of ****, other fiercely defending it. Who knows? It's timeline is far too cluttered to go back and see what it's been right on. This account has claimed to today that we made a 10m bid for fellaini on Wednesday. Say's his source is a journo and they're hit and miss so can only presume this account is the same.
Well at least the account hasn`t been exposed as complete and utter fake bullshit so we can still hope. For the moment anyway. Cheers Bri.
This, from THBN, is the most plausible explaination of the Yedlin situation which I have found: Saturday, 6 August 2016 Yedlin for sale or loan + video vs Atletico Madrid[/paste:font] TRANSFER TALK please log in to view this image DeAndre Yedlin improved at Sunderland under Sam Allardyce and new boss David Moyes has suggested he is going to look around for a better player or a better value player. He is for sale and Sunderland would love to sign him for around £3-million while Tottenham want double that. He went to Australia and got game time, most of it at left-back. he is a player we will sell if the right offer comes in as opposed to players like Fazio and Pritchard who were told to find other clubs. Yedlin wants first team football, he doesn't want to be a squad player, it is no good for his development and Yedlin is unsure about working with Moyes. His comments rather demonstrate that Moyes would be reluctant to pick the American so while Yedlin impressed everyone at Sunderland with his attitude, a move back there is nowhere near close. He didn't make the trip to Oslo and Kieran Trippier is the number two to Kyle Walker. To replace him with Yedlin would be taking a step backwards. He may have speed but he is mediocre at the moment and doesn't improve the squad. If we don't get the right price for him during the transfer window then he will be loaned out during the loan window that follows the transfer window. I suspect that his future will be sorted in the by the close of the summer transfer window though. The video below is his performance vs AtleticoMadrid.
This is one of those compilation videos. It's kind of boring because it is Spurs and this is what possession football looks like in preseason.
