Drop the spade Jimmy and if I can find a ladder among all this **** I will lower it down so you can climb out
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned Crystal Palace and any other clubs interested in signing Christian Benteke, 25, that the striker will not be sold below his value as a "present". (Evening Standard) Klopp will be forced to send 19-year-old midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza out on loan this season because he does not yet qualify for a UK work permit
All this Sakho debate.... When he's concentrating he's an absolute beast of a defender. Trouble is he has concentration difficulties that seriously need sorting out. If he can do this he's one of the best CB's in the PL, without doubt imo. If he can't he's a liability on and off the pitch.
not sure the fees really bear any resemblance to worth . just in our case Wijnaldum £25m ouch but then Ibe £15m and Smith £6m - though i still doubt the Smith price unless it contains a huge chunk of add ons. I mean Sunderland supposedly paid £8m for a Chelsea reserve Spurs £17m for Jansen who cost approx £300k a year earlier the PL has gone stark staring mad
True. Some of the prices are just crazy. The Smith one sticks out, I'm the same in the sense I simply can't believe he went for 6mil - however, from what I've heard it's true as the add-ons will easily be met. The PL is quite simply ruining itself.
my assumption was that the add-ons would be very difficult to meet in full but that might be due to my <cough> frugal nature oh and the fact Smith clearly wasn't all that to say the least even if unlike the rest of our squad he could cross the ball
Fair assessment. I do think he's not helped by the fact he has mignolet behind him, a non existent midfield ahead of him, and Moreno and Lovren either side of him.
True. He does need an organiser around him, but that's the point in a way. Should someone that is (by some) considered our best CB need an organiser, or should they be the one doing the organising?
I thought that when we signed him he was being built up on here as a potential leader? He'll need to get his finger out to live up to that expectation because at the moment he comes across as being rather immature and irresponsible.
I think Jimmy wanted him to be our Captain He'll never be a leader or captain for our club. Shame as he clearly has a very vocal personality, but seems to lack the ability to be sensible!!
Sakho is an enigma He looks ungainly yet passing accuracy is good Can look majestic yet the following week he just charges around the pitch trying to clatter the opposition leaving gaping holes behind ( exacerbated by the fact Moreno unlikely to be in LB position ) which are so easy to exploit particularly as he often loses aerial challenges. Added to the off field problems it is a worry
I still want him as a captain - mainly because he's the best of A bad bunch. He does organise the defence but he can only do so much with the dross around him. People question his attitude etc - but off the field, he clearly loves Liverpool and has totally bought into the club. His work with charities is very good as well.
Charity work is good, I know he does lots so fair play to him. But Captain?? Come on Jimmy the guy is lawless and has the complete wrong attitude to be a captain. You can't be captain and just turn up late to training, airports, interviews etc. You can't storm out of a stadium for not being picked. These things are so important, a captain HAS to lead by example. I agree we don't have many candidates at present. I see Henderson continuing this season, then possibly Can taking the reigns. But it's odd as I'm not even sure Hendo is a guaranteed starter? Maybe one of our new guys really shows up this season and ends up captain next season. Wijnaldem was a club captain as a teenager, so he must have something about him behind the scenes?
