So let's recap: Out - RvW, Vadis, O'Neil, Redmond In - Canos, McGovern, Prichard, Rumoured to be going - Lafferty, Mulumbu, Brady & Ollson Rumoured to be coming: N'Doye, and/or Assombalonga, Would somebody please remind me who was the manager when we spent a total of £11/12m on RvW and Vadis which has proved probably most, if not all, of the money down the drain. Was the manager totally responsible for the buying the players?:emoticon-0104-surpr

It depends on how many games he starts I think FML - he'll get a few goals for sure I feel but I reckon that he'll be sharing the start duties with Pritchard and Wes mostly so that may restrict how many he does score for us.

Think Naismith will be used more as a striker if we don't get another one in.

I think that's exactly what AN will do. He will probably claim that was the plan all along. I can see him being used as a Striker when all target bids fail.

So, the latest from the EDP - Brady still has a sore calf, Martin is definitely out and Dorrans has a groin strain.
Oh and once again, the number 9 shirt doesn't have an owner!!!!!

I think that's the position he will play regardless if another striker comes in. We've got good players in the midfield, so the only area I can see Naismith playing is upfront or as a sub.

Indubitably KIO! If Dion can do it, Steven can as well. Like your new avatar, by the way - one of my favourite players ever.

In fairness though in the same time period we made plenty on Snoddy, Bradders and Redmond, can't win em all but at least we bought a ticket. Naismith can still justify his transfer.....maybe!

    Bah!

Meanwhile, in the real world Newcastle are 1-0 down at Fulham at half-time. Not against the run of play either. Fulham 2 shots, both on target while Newcastle's 2 shots were both off target.

From today's EDP - "Alex Neil is confident of bringing in two new hitmen to bolster his attack before the end of the summer transfer window."
“Firepower is the big thing for us. If we get a couple more strikers before the window ends, which we will do, then the rest of the team is as strong if not more so than the last time at this level,” he said. “I still think we have a little bit of work to do in that area and we are confident of doing that. People only hear what is in the press but I can assure you behind the scenes we have numerous people we have been speaking to.”

It's going to be an interesting few weeks to the end of the transfer window and I'd love to see us chasing a CB as well, but if we're attacking more and retaining the ball better, then we SHOULDN'T have so much defending to do!!! <laugh>
Looks like the best Carlton Morris can hope for is going on loan again somewhere

Didn't Dion return to us as a 38 year old centre back and we were nearly relegated to League 1 ?

AN states that he has CJ, Lafferty, Morris and Naismith available as strikers. Well he obviously believes that each can do a job for him, but will any one of Lafferty, Morris and Naismith actually measure up to the job if required? We need to hit the ground running at Blackburn and I bet he selects CJ as main striker. Newcastle showed yesterday that even as favourites for promotion back to Prem it's going to hard road back. Lafferty is clearly out of favour, Morris is not ready for the Championship and Naismith is hardly reliable on the goal scoring front! Come on AN who do you think you are kidding. At least two strikers are definitely needed asap
