They will be announced tomorrow and Rafa has confirmed we will have a new captain and a new number 9 on Thursday. Apparently 2 of our strikers wanted it.

    Looking forward to tomorrow now.

Mitrovic will be number 9. He will carry it well.

This year could be the absolute making of Mitrovic if he rises to this. Saying that I can definitely see him picking up another few reds when one of those cookie cutter football league burly 36 year old centre halves decides to clatter him 90 seconds into a game!

Mitro for the Number 9 shirt and Lascelles for Captain for me.

Mitro could do a Wor Andy in my view given the right service and we have the players to do it in Ritchie and Aaron's.

Gayle is the new number 9. Good player but wrong decision.

It's 10 - To represent the number of injuries he'll pick up during the season. Symbolic. Though it would have been more apt to swap with Mitrovic - 45 - to match the number of games he'll miss.

I believe Mitro was offerred no.9 last season, but turned it down stating that he wanted to earn it. Gayle comes in and just takes it. I think its the wrong decision, but Rafa confirmed that it was agreed between the two strikers. All Mitro can do now is steal it off him. I wanted to see alot more of Mitrovic this year, but something's telling me he will be restricted to the odd start and a load of cameo appearances.

Well there's an under estimation if I've ever heard one. There's optimism and there's optimism but that would be ridiculous.

Mitrovic apparently asked to keep 45 again from what I've heard on social media, how true that is I don't know but happy with those numbers although I wanted Lacselles to take number 5 as that's MY number!!!

Why does Riviere have a number? <yikes>

So does this mean Siem De Jong is staying? Surely he can rip it up in the Championship? Surely. Come one. CL to League 1 in 4 years?

Is there any significants in the fact that Krul is number 1? Does that mean he's staying?

    Henri Saivet.

There once was a myth that we signed a player of that name......

I don't think he's even that good! I've never seen him do anything of note since he came here.
Edit - that was meant for de Jong but could apply to rivière as well.

I'd be quite happy for SDJ or Riv to prove us all wrong and have a splendid time this season... but it ain't gonna happen! Sad for de Jong having declined from day 1, but resigned to Riv just being a terrible terrible player.
