can anyone explain why england are bashing pakistan baout? I mean I could see ok you were a bit concerned about rest yesterday and i could see going out for 30mins to just unsettle the pakistan team then declaring but... we are looking at root and cook bascially going to town now chasing 100s. it could bloody rain for two days and cook will looks stupid. Surely its time to get in and bowl at paskistan for an hour before lunch? no?
Top win in the end. I think everyone was confused about the declaration and if you get it wrong you look like a right plonker. But I think they were just concerned about having to maybe chase 150 on the final day of a spinning pitch. Gave bowlers a bit more of a rest and all worked out well in the end. Cook & Root are just on another level to the rest of these batsmen. If 1 or 2 of them could get close to that level we'd have one hell of a team. Special mention to Woakes, 2 brilliant games, unlucky not to get MOTM in both! Really done well, I didn't think he looked anything like a test bowler who could bat when he first came in but he seems to have got an extra yard of pace now and it's making all the difference. Sets up the series nicely.
Yes it was a good win. I was glad the pakistan guys i nthe top order gave up a bit. Bascially we won it in 3/4 of a day bowling but stokes still got injured... If it had rained for a day we would have looked stupid. I could understand: a) batting out one day to rest bowlers when two were just back form injury. b) sending batting team out knowing there was no rain about for 30mins to just upset the pakistan openers. both are understandable. Once you batter for 15/20 mins and got your 50 and roots 50 they declared. they had enough time in the end and secured the win. It was a gamble. I agree Cook and root are totally a class above other english batsmen but both have their areas to bowl at and get them. hales needs time to develop his defense and patience. vince i think can play spin but can't leave a ball v pace. bairstow is good on pace but looked lousy v spin. no defense... there batting there but its got a bit to go to score enough. to get to top of test league table you need more batting and bwling to stay fit. The 5 we have now (if ali develops more) as bowlers are very very good and have enough variety to have impact on most pitches... but the results show where we are at and why we are low in the table. woakes was brilliant yes. I agree with call MOTM. ery close with root.
looks like pakistan have delivered what they said they would. cook for 45, root for 3. england 100/3 after being put in to bat here. its lunch and vince and ballance are at the crease after lunch.
Been decent game, pretty even. Pakistan prob happier getting Cook & Root out early though.5 They've definitely bowled a lot better in this game than last.
it looks like pakistan have a right armer in so thats balanced out their attack and given more options but also they have tried to unsettle root and cook with tactics for each and its worked. Vince was due an average score and 39 is barely that. he is now done and its ballance and bairstow. 300 will be lucky form us i reckon. this is going to be a 50/50 game and will require a big bowling effort.
