Yes for me I would love to see Barton in a Stoke City shirt as he is a playmaker, can passs the ball, has a cracking shot on him, plays with passion and aggression and will give 100% every game. Plus I would see him over Whitehead, Whelan and Delap every day of the week. He won't come though because we just do not attract these kind of players!
This fella is a bell end of chat ! can anybody serously disagree with me ! top player bet an idiot ..clubs dont let there top players go for nowt ! i will let the rest tell the story ?????
Mighty Huth, Fair play to you for saying what many Stoke fans on here won't say. WHY not give the guy a break? I knew this would start another debate all over again. Let's face it... LEAVING aside what a complete and utter TOOL was and a total ******* idiot to do that to a team mate is ridiculous. So, If we were too buy/loan/get Barton on a free and he shone like a ******* beakon and made us tick. WOULD ANY of you apart from Mighty Huth and myself actually bloody get behind him. ON the PITCH? Yes or No Can't wait for this tin hat is at the ready. I'm fine Nick, don't lose any sleep over it
Its not about his private life its about how he seems to offend and upset players, managers at every club he goes to. Yes he is a quality player but a loose cannon and I wouldnt touch him with a barge pole. There are PLENTY of players like Barton about so my question is this......if youre willing Pulis to break the bank then why not break the bank for a player with the right attitude too? STOKE CITY IS NOT A ****ING REHAB CENTRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Bolatelli is a quality player but would you sign him?.................thought not!!!. We dont want players like him disrupting the team!.
I think that I am that desperate to see some quality in the middle of the park that I would happily support him if he played for the shirt! I dont think we can be too picky on quality players that become available - not that I think he will end up at Stoke!
Smither's Quite right that is why I asked the question in the first place. Also notice on my post before that. I did say, he woudn't be my first choice IF of course we or TP do have an option. Might be that he doesn't Smither's. Who know's? Only Tony Pulis I guess is the answer. And, I hope we do look at other player's of similar ability because depite being a complete and utter tool off the pitch. He's an OK player. Dunnett Not strange reading those comments rather I was fuming mate. Thanks to everyone for them. But, I would rather be alive, kicking and yes matie. STILL bouncing those tennis balls. My Physio asked me who gave me the idea cos it works a treat. I just told her a guy I met on the internet did Dunnett and it's HOT down here in Stoke right now. Here's too another season and hopefully a good one for the Potter's Take care and thanks again for that advice, forever grateful to you.
Stoke City might not be a REHAB CENTRE..............But we are a ****ING DOGS HOME......see some previous signings. That lad would be class for us, just my opinion.
Mighty Huth, Agree that he would be a vast improvement on what we have in CM. However, given the stick we gave him in March I do not think he would contemplate coing to the Brit. Also he is no doubt earning some ridiculous wage a week and way out of line with the existing players
We are being consistently linked with Barton. Surprised we're the only Premier League team in for him. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/03/newcastle-united-joey-barton-stoke Newcastle United unwilling to soften their stance on Joey Barton • Stoke the only club to show interest in the midfielder • Alan Pardew adamant there is no way back for Barton Newcastle United remain resolute in their intention to sell Joey Barton and will ignore any attempts from the midfielder to broker a truce. Barton was handed a free transfer after criticising the club's spending policy on Twitter but has still to find a new club and is scheduled to work out alone when Alan Pardew's squad return to training on Thursday following a day off. Newcastle's manager feels Barton's presence is capable of poisoning the atmosphere in his dressing room to such an extent that the 28-year-old is expected to continue training in isolation and will not be involved in games until his departure. That exit may not be as hasty as originally hoped after it emerged that despite being offered to assorted Premier League, Championship and overseas clubs, there is not exactly a stampede to sign Barton. Although on Tuesday the midfielder's agent, Willie McKay, claimed "six" Premier League clubs were showing serious interest, by such suitors seemed to have turned a little coy, with Stoke City appearing to be the only top-flight club openly keen on acquiring him. While Sam Allardyce would be happy to reunite Barton with his old friend Kevin Nolan in West Ham United's midfield it is understood that after replenishing their squad this summer, the Upton Park club lack the funds to pay what Barton is accustomed to. Several clubs are deterred by the baggage that comes with Barton's troubled history and others cannot match his near £70,000 a week wages. Although the player would be willing to accept a pay cut, it is unclear how far he would be prepared to lower his demands. There is a feeling that, should serious interest from elsewhere remain unforthcoming, Barton may be tempted to pledge his renewed loyalty to Newcastle and do everything in his powers to stay put. Judging by Twitter outpourings, there seemed a shift on Wednesday when a player with a year outstanding on his Newcastle contract tweeted: "Just because ur [sic] are told to jump it does not necessarily mean u have to. I may choose to stay perfectly still. It's my right...just a thought." Any conciliatory tone was, however, rather undermined by another tweet, possibly prompted by suggestions that Newcastle may be poised to ban their players from using Twitter. Quoting the former US president George Washington, Barton, said: "If freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led like sheep to the slaughter." The left-back José Enrique, meanwhile, has closed his Twitter account after being, like Barton, fined two weeks' wages for using it to criticise Newcastle's modus operandi but although he is thought to be inching closer to a long-desired move to Liverpool, Newcastle are yet to receive a bid from the Anfield club.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...ready-pay-him-60k-per-week-article783598.html Stoke boss Tony Pulis is in talks with Newcastleâs Joey Barton about a shock move to the ambitious Potters. Pulis met with Bartonâs agent on Wednesday and wants to tie up personal terms to land the controversial midfielder for the big Premier League kick-off this weekend. The straight-talking Welshman thinks he can harness Bartonâs talents and lively personality and make him a big plus for his side as they look to build on last seasonâs successes by making an impact on the Europa League. Stoke have put together a personal package that would see the 28-year-old receive around £60,000-a-week for the next four seasons. As Arsenal, Tottenham and Celtic have dithered and stepped back because of the potential cost of signing Barton, the Potters have leapt to the head of the queue. Pulis hopes he can convince Barton that Stoke is a suitable club for him - the Scouser would ideally like a team in the chase for honours, to help keep his England hopes alive. Barton has been critical of Newcastleâs ambition and is clear to leave for nothing, despite manager Alan Pardew looking to play him against Arsenal on Saturday. If he thinks that Stoke measure up to his standards, Barton may be heading for the Britannia to make a shock debut against Chelsea on Sunday instead.
